The European Union has been accused of creating Orwellian “ministries of truth” that will ensure wrong thoughts are not allowed in a bid to tackle disinformation online. The Mail has the story.
It is expected that those in charge of the platforms that must comply with the regulation will prioritise advice given by EU-approved “trusted flaggers” and fact-checkers monitoring information posted online.
Cristian Terhes, a Romanian MP and Member of the European Parliament, argued the bloc’s Digital Services Act provides it with enough power to rule on what content is true and false when it appears on the websites of some of the world’s biggest providers.
He told the Telegraph: “The European Commission has taken a page out of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and demanded that EU member states set up Government-sponsored ministries of truth to ensure that wrong thoughts and banned words are not allowed into the digital space.
“Surely in a democratic society, it’s the public, who hear or have access to all arguments, who are the ones to make up their mind on the truth or attractiveness of certain facts, ideas or parties.
“Surely it is for the people to hear and decide what they hold as true or desirable rather than Government bodies.”
The Digital Services Act aims to protect European users when it comes to privacy, transparency and removal of harmful or illegal content.
The regulation, which was put into effect on August 25th, outlines the need for the EU’s 27 member states to set up a network of “trusted flaggers”, with expertise in monitoring illegal or harmful content.
The rules aim to set new standards for policing hate speech, disinformation and counterfeits on the web, and all large digital platforms must follow them.
The new standards were implemented to tackle how tech giants such as Google and Facebook operate in Europe, but websites and online platforms bringing in 45 million monthly users will also be included.
Instagram and TikTok are among the 19 platforms that must comply with the special obligations under the regulation.
It’s by now obvious to most people that so-called ‘trusted flaggers’ are just organs for enforcing a politically-approved version of events. We’ve seen this repeatedly during the pandemic, where anything which contradicts the constantly shifting official narrative is labelled ‘misinformation’ and subject to suppression and censorship online.
The growing trend towards totalitarian European speech policing – where EU institutions grant themselves power to dictate what is true and false and censor all they deem false – somehow needs to be stopped.

Okay then, the Eastern conservative member states should start censoring all CRT, DIE, drag shows and any and all homo promotions. Advocating for trans transitions will be a criminal offence because our fact check checkers have determined that a boy can't become a girl. Because feelings are not a replacement for facts.

The media has reached the point where they get punished for telling the truth, and rewarded for lying. For example, the people who are pushed forward on Ukraine (particularly its causes and the status of the war), are the ones constantly lying about it (such as saying that Russia blew up their own pipeline, LOL; or Trump/Russia ‘collusion’, LOL)...they are NEVER held accountable...and never even apologize for being wrong.
So the logical next step is to identify and cancel sources that are telling the truth and thus conflicting with what the Media/Deep State wants.
Can’t help wondering if we’ve changed places with Soviet Union, since CNN is still available in Russia (for idiots that want to watch it), but Russia Today (RT) has been canceled (at least in part) in Europe.

Gee, who would have predicted that U.S. internet operations would suddenly have a totally new set of enhanced AI guardians at the gateways?

The US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has contracted New York-based Accrete AI to deploy software that detects “real time” disinformation threats on social media.
The company’s Argus anomaly detection AI software analyzes social media data, accurately capturing “emerging narratives” and generating intelligence reports for military forces to speedily neutralize disinformation threats.
“Synthetic media, including AI-generated viral narratives, deep fakes, and other harmful social media-based applications of AI, pose a serious threat to US national security and civil society,” Accrete founder and CEO Prashant Bhuyan said.
“Social media is widely recognized as an unregulated environment where adversaries routinely exploit reasoning vulnerabilities and manipulate behavior through the intentional spread of disinformation.
“USSOCOM is at the tip of the spear in recognizing the critical need to identify and analytically predict social media narratives at an embryonic stage before those narratives evolve and gain traction. Accrete is proud to support USSOCOM’s mission.”
But wait… It gets worse!
[PRIVATE SECTOR VERSION] – The company also revealed that it will launch an enterprise version of Argus Social for disinformation detection later this year.
The AI software will provide protection for “urgent customer pain points” against AI-generated synthetic media, such as viral disinformation and deep fakes.
Providing this protection requires AI that can automatically “learn” what is most important to an enterprise and predict the likely social media narratives that will emerge before they influence behavior. (read more)
Now, take a deep breath…. Let me explain.
The goal is the “PRIVATE SECTOR VERSION.” USSOCOM is the mechanical funding mechanism for deployment, because the system itself is too costly for a private sector launch. The Defense Dept budget is used to contract an Artificial Intelligence system, the Argus anomaly detection AI, to monitor social media under the auspices of national security.
Once the DoD funded system is created, the “Argus detection protocol” – the name given to the AI monitoring and control system, will then be made available to the public sector. “Enterprise Argus” is then the commercial product, created by the DoD, which allows the U.S. based tech sectors to deploy.
The DoD cannot independently contract for the launch of an operation against a U.S. internet network, because of constitutional limits via The Posse Comitatus Act, which limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. However, the DoD can fund the creation of the system under the auspices of national defense, and then allow the private sector to launch for the same intents and purposes. See how that works?
