Why Donald Trump can't get a top-tier lawyer
Hot Air ^ | 15 June 2023 | Alan Dershowitz

There is a nefarious group that calls itself The 65 Project that has as its goal to intimidate lawyers into not representing Trump or anyone associated with him. They have threatened to file bar charges against any such lawyers. When these threats first emerged, I wrote an op-ed offering to defend pro bono any lawyers that The 65 Project goes after. So The 65 Project immediately went after me, and contrived a charge based on a case in which I was a constitutional consultant, but designed to send a message to potential Trump lawyers: if you defend Trump or anyone associated with him, we will target you and find something to charge you with. The lawyers to whom I spoke are fully aware of this threat — and they are taking it seriously.

There may be other reasons as well for why lawyers are reluctant to defend Trump. He is not the easiest client, and he has turned against some of his previous lawyers, as some of his previous lawyers have turned against him. This will be a difficult case to defend and an unpopular one with many in the legal profession and in general population.

We don't have a country any more.

It's a regime.

pResident Rumpleforeskin [who's TOTALLY not a dictator] approves this message to lawyers for his political opponents.

These people are sowing the wind...and they may yet reap the whirlwind.

I want to move on from Donald Trump. However, should he be re-elected, I will fully support him going after his tormentors.

This one small group of Bully-Lawyers will need to be sued directly in order to make them stop this.
That’s not how the law is supposed to go.

Hopefully soon, one of Trump’s potential Atty.s will decide to push back, very hard and very publicly.
Name these vermin. The public should know how Dems really operate!

The commies doxxed and threatened Trump’s 2020 election fraud lawyers so they quit.

This was also the case with the defense lawyers for CA Prop 8 and federal DOMA. The lawyers were doxxed and threatened with a mark on their law license or even being disbarred. All for doing their jobs.

These groups need to be shut down. You’ve attorneys as a group need to push back or they will all become victims from one political perspective or another.

What successful attorney would want to defend Trump, knowing that he will turn on the attorney without any hesitation. There really is not anyone that Trump has not dissed. He has no loyalty.

So post names and addresses of the people on the 65 project. It would also be cool to know where they vacation and pump gas in their car. Just in case somebody wants to personally express how they feel about their activities.

Perhaps The Donald can hire them for a side job.

President Trump may not have the best lawyers in the country on his front line, but behind the scenes the best lawyers on the planet are working for Trump.

Yes , Trump has a No Call Back reputation . In NY Trump was forced to use that Ambulance Chaser Cohn . He burned all his bridges and did not pay on time . He had an awful reputation for decades .
No one will touch him after his double crossing his lawyers and not paying .
No good lawyer wants to ruin their reputation by being involved in-screwing around the DOJ . Decent FL law firms are not interested in his DOJ mess .

The fact that we know that Trump has had a bunch of attorneys; and that he has a hard time keeping them and getting new ones tells you a lot about the man.

For goodness sake, OJ was able to secure and retain great lawyers. Why can’t the Donald?

More honor among thieves and prostitutes than lawyers.

It was somewhere in the late 20th century that Hollywood started portraying lawyers and journalists in a favorable light.

Of course acting and show business was always thought of as a low life profession as well which makes one wonder how Hollywood gets to elevate the social status of any group.

But as popular culture sunk to the level of lawyers, journalists, and actors; the culture was no longer looking down on them.

I’m no fan of James Carville but he always made me laugh when called John Edwards a low down dirty tobacco lawyer.

I am laughing because he added tobacco to what was my prevailing opinion of lawyers.
