Here's a likely answer. The Left is trying to provoke a response from real conservatives by doing outrageous things like letting this F_I plant walk, and jailing Trump supporters that should probably only have been fined (if that). The more this happens, the more angry conservatives become, to the point where you might get some more unstable types crossing the line in some manner.
