Annie Jump Cannon died on this date in 1941. She had co-created the Harvard Classification Scheme for organising our understanding of stars.

I have friends, married couples who are into astronomy together. They make great teams, and I envy them that. I never could get my wife interested, even though I was into it when we first met.

I love Vera Rubin. She didn’t let people tell her what she could or couldn’t do.
She was told to give up the idea of getting a degree and just be a house wife.
She fixed them by doing both. She was also faithfully Jewish.
I found her to be very inspirational and a credit to humanity.
I found her e-mail address and was going to write her but heard she died before I could write. :(
