French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that being a US ally did not mean being a "vassal", after he gave a controversial interview on the subject of Taiwan.

"Being an ally does not mean being a vassal... doesn't mean that we don't have the right to think for ourselves," Macron told a press conference in Amsterdam at the end of a state visit to the Netherlands.

Macron also said that "France is for the status quo on Taiwan" and sought a "peaceful resolution of the situation".

Who gave Macron permission to sabotage NATO?

I remember a 1964 Look Magazine editorial cartoon on France and nuclear arms.

In the book, the Bomb in the Basement, it is asserted that the Israelis originally got their nuke from France.

The editorial cartoon depicted Charles De Gaulle, with his typical, French military cap, in short pants (like a junior, a child), turning his back on NATO, with the caption, “If I can’t be General, I won’t play.”

Oh come on here. Macron is no more a Frenchman than Biden is an American. These people are globalists. They have no allegiance to such mundane and out dated notions as countries or nations. Just to make sure of their loyalty I suspect that most of these "World Leaders" have been guests of note at a certain tropical island of which we cannot speak. No mystery here.

While most Americans have no I’ll will towards France, we done view it as a vassal... or even much as an ally. France is simply a reasonably friendly nation we don’t really care much about.

All of these politicians are “vassals.”

Another trendy term which is becoming popular today.

It’s a term or idea they like to use when they don’t want to go along with an interest that is in conflict with their own, but they too are no more than a mouth which does the talking for a bunch of special interests.

Hint, that’s what made Trump special (a rare exception) and dangerous. He was actually independent. He wasn’t beholden to anyone, not even his own party.

The French are ALWAYS doing this.

And Macron especially is a plastic politician and PR whore.

What is MORE interesting about this is that Macron visited with Ursula van der Leyen - and the vast difference of how they were treated

Macron received a proper State visit, brass band, parade, meeting with Xi Jinping, etc...had a big delegation of French business, who all met Ministry Heads, etc...

Van der Leyen was forced to go through the commercial terminal, had to wait - and ultimately met with, China’s Ecology Minister.

I agree. We should stop defending Europe. I wouldn’t be surprised if the American government spends money in foreign elections so people “we” want to win actually win.

Possibly but wonder what he will think as China starts moving in on former French territorial holdings? It will start diplomatically.

France so desperately wants to be seen as more than it is.

Although I loved their Special Ops guys who were very conservative and loved Reagan, the nation dropped out of the NATO military command structure for 43 years and only came back into the fold in 2009.

Let’s be honest. Who would want to be an ally of the US with this degenerate chomo at the helm. The world sees Sam Brinkman and Richard Levine as the standard bearers of Americanism as they watch gropey Joe perv on little girls.

I still remember after WWII the big sale on French Army weapons:
For sale: French Army Rifles. Never fired. Only dropped once.
