The move is the latest indication of a run to come, and a bruising one at that.
A super PAC closely aligned with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is making a major expansion, bringing on a top Republican strategist and establishing its headquarters in Atlanta.
It is a move that comes as the Florida governor takes steps toward launching a widely-expected presidential run.
Jeff Roe, who previously ran Sen. Ted Cruz’s 2016 presidential campaign, has signed on to be an adviser to the super PAC, Never Back Down, according to an operative with direct knowledge of the move.

All ANYONE needs to know about Ron De Santis, from this point forward, is the company that he keeps. ROE is a SCUMBALL personified.
I planned to take a neutral approach to De Santis.
Not anymore.
You want war MFers?
You got it!
Another reason to vote for Trump!! Like we needed one. DeSantis is going to get so bloodied up that he will be unelectable in 2028. We warned him!! Trump 2024!!
Is this the guy who sabotaged Dr. Ben Carson’s campaign in Iowa? If he had a hand in it, he’s a dirty trickster.
DeSantis could have gotten Karl (Marx) Rove on the cheap...
When Ron announces he will have his own campaign manager, and it is unlikely to be Jeff Roe who took this job.
From Ballotpedia here is a little bit about what makes a Super Pac "Super":
A super PAC is a political committee that can solicit and spend unlimited sums of money. A super PAC cannot contribute directly to a politician or political party, but it can spend independently to campaign for or against political figures. These committees are also called independent expenditure-only committees. A super PAC is not legally considered a political action committee (PAC) and as such is regulated under separate rules
So, what about Trump's SuperPAC?
Trump's super PAC has $53.4 million for his 2024 bid
Trump's super PAC has $53.4 million for his 2024 bid Trump's Save America PAC largely funded the new super PAC, MAGA, Inc.
MAGA, Inc., a super PAC aligned with former President Donald Trump, the Trump-aligned super PAC, has $53.4 million to spend supporting Trump's presidential bid, thanks largely to funds Trump raised himself.
The super PAC had $53.4 million had on hand as of Nov. 28, per a new fundraising report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday.
The super PAC, which launched in late September, became Trump’s main political arm. The vast majority of the $73 million the super PAC raised since it was founded through Nov. 28 came from transfers from Trump’s PAC, Save America.
The Save America PAC has been Trump's main fundraising and political spending arm since Trump left office. But now that he's a candidate, he'll need to raise and spend money used specifically for his presidential campaign through his official campaign committee.
So while Trump can't solicit money to his new super PAC, he was allowed to send money from his Save America PAC to fill its coffers before announcing his run for president. MAGA, Inc. is run by Taylor Budowich, Trump's former spokesman and a close aide.
You could try to make the argument, but there’s next to no chance it might fly.
Also, federal law supersedes state law, i.e. he is not barred Constitutionally from running and meets federal requirements for the office - so it would be an exercise in futility to try to apply to a federal office.
That looks like something that has to litigated in court.
The Trump campaign has brought this law up before.
But I’m not the judge of whether the statute is constitutional.
