Unemployed Liz Cheney Lectures MTG on Constitution, Gets Humiliated for Ignorance

Liz Cheney is no longer a member of Congress, but that didn’t stop her from trying to pick a fight with Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA. Cheney tweeted from the unemployment line on Monday, lecturing Greene on the “governing principles of America” after the Georgia congresswoman proposed a national divorce.

Greene had tweeted earlier,

“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”

Greene’s comments sparked disapproval from both sides of the aisle. Her proposal is still making headlines two days later. Cheney, who has been languishing in obscurity since getting trounced by 40 points last summer, decided this would be her moment to shine.

“Let’s review some of the governing principles of America, [Marjorie Taylor Greene] Our country is governed by the Constitution. You swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Secession is unconstitutional. No member of Congress should advocate secession, Marjorie.”

On both sides of the debate, Liz Cheney was the last person anybody wanted to hear from. Republicans especially were not interested in a lecture from the former January 6 committee vice chair.

“Where does the Constitution forbid secession?” Grabien founder Tom Elliot asked. “Seems weird the Founders would do so since secession is how the colonies broke free from King George III.”

Well, Liz,” wrote one commenter, “this may come as a surprise to you, but the Constitution very clearly states…

‘That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government'”

Former California Senate Candidate James Bradley, R, also said, “You swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. So did you, and then the first thing you did was betray a duly-elected president because the Democrats paid you better. Never think you can lecture us, honey.”

Bradley hits the nail on the head.

According to Cheney’s financial disclosure statements, her net worth exploded by as much as 600% during her time in Congress. By 2020, her net worth was estimated to be as high as $44 million, compared to around $7 million when she entered Congress in 2017.

Cheney is reportedly mulling over a potential 2024 presidential run. If she wants to win the presidency, however, she will likely need more than the $44 million and five supporters that she currently has. Perhaps a few more scolding tweets will put her over the top.

Tweets at link. I seem to recall the old Black Panthers and other 60's radicals call for a similar type of secession, demanding a large portion of the South set aside for "the disenfranchised Blacks". Some still do to this day. Would Lizzy dare criticize such a notion? Or would she be down with this if that would boost her pathetically dismal chances in the Rep primary?

There’s nothing in the Constitution that forbids secession. The real impediment is that the US federal government will declare war on you if you try it.

That is hate speech right there. I know a woman who was fired for addressing a male colleagues as "hun." He felt debased and humuliated with his entire sexual persona destroyed by that hateful term understood so well in the South as the ultimate put down. "Can I get you the special today, hun?" No one puts up with that.

The southern states left the Union in the manner they entered . . . by special conventions.

But, since 1865, state membership is akin to the Hotel California.

And who will they use to wage that war?

Most of the states that want to secede have the military bases in them.

The ones that are t in Red States are in Red areas of the Blue state they are located in.

Ft Drum….conservative area.

The military bases in california are in areas that are Red.

Washington, outside of the insanity of Seattle, Ft Lewis, is pretty Red too.

It definitely would be interesting. Co so Sri g how many gets there are as opposed to the kids joining now that can barely pass a PT test and can’t get yelled at.

And I’m thinking that NOT one member to the Special Operations Command would take part in any fighting.

And given that about 80% of the military is combat support, I don’t think they’d fare too well, IMHO.

It would be a “Constructive Secession,” where we would offer “warm thoughts” when the Blue States got themselves into trouble - Democrat/communists are atheists so no - thoughts and prayers. We figure out how to divide the military and a few essential government agencies if there are any and that would be it.
Free travel between states but no voting rights for them in our states or us in their states unless and until citizenship was granted.
It would be like a Constructive abandonment divorce in family court.

Texas v. White was decided after the Civil War and essentially outlawed secession. However, whether that opinion is accurate or even has merit was and is a matter of contention. Technically speaking Lez is correct but she should always be told to go Eff herself.

There’s nothing in the Constitution that forbids secession. The real impediment is that the US federal government will declare war on you if you try it.

Which, as we all know, is why the Second Amendment exists and is not to be infringed, period. It’s not for hunting, and it’s not even for everyday self-defense (though that is a side benefit). It is to provide the People the means to repel a tyrannical government, and overtake and replace it if necessary. The only way to maintain that capability is by providing the People with the right to keep and bear the same arms that the military possesses, which was the original intent (especially since the “militia” WAS the military most of the time).

Of course, the usual response to that is something along the lines of, “So you think you should be able to have a nuke?”, the answer to which is “Sure, if I can gather a cash pile as large as a major country as well as the resources that such a nation would possess, which means that’s a silly question because it would never happen anyway.”

That's in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.
