Taylor Brock, Virginia mom, 12 year old son choked by older girl on school bus as administrators refuse to ban bully who is issued order of protection to keep away from boy in latest case of school bullying. Why does it keep happening? A Virginia mother has demanded school authorities take action against an older girl caught on surveillance video choking and bullying her 12 year old son during a recent attack on a school bus.
Taylor Brock, whose son is a seventh-grader at Walt Whitman Middle School in Alexandria, posted footage from the Jan. 23 incident on her blog Monday in which she calls out the older child’s behavior.
A one-minute clip shows the girl hitting her son, grabbing him by the mouth and neck, threatening him, and then apparently choking him while pushing him into the seat.
The driver is only heard warning students not to switch seats.
The incident according to the mom led to her son being left with red marks and bruises and now fearing riding the school bus.

My son came home crying, and I saw the marks on his neck,’ Brock told WUSA 9. ‘It breaks my heart that there are all these kids on the bus and not one decided to stand up.’
The mom wrote that the attacker was the same girl who had stolen a toy from her son months ago.
‘I immediately went to the school to show them the video of the assault and pictures of my son’s neck. Upon seeing this I was sure that the school would take proper action and keep not only my son safe but the other children on the bus and school safe too by expelling her,’ Brock wrote.
‘Surely, a child seen committing a heinous crime would get expelled from school,’ the mom added.
Brock told WJLA that she also filed a complaint with police.
‘The school said they couldn’t tell me what action would be taken against the girl but that they would take care of it,’ she told the outlet, adding that she obtained a protection order from a Fairfax County judge who ordered the girl to stay at least 50 feet away from her son for two years.
‘I found out from my son that she had come back to school after being merely suspended for a criminal act such as strangulation. How is that fair?’ Brock wrote.

The mom said the school assured her that her son and his assailant would not have the same classes and that the principal told the two children to walk apart in the hallways, WUSA reported.
But Brock said her son told her the girl sat behind him at lunch and crossed paths with him in the hallways.
‘Not only did the girl not take this protection order seriously, but the school didn’t either,’ Brock wrote.
She said that when she asked school officials why they merely suspended the girl, ‘they replied, ‘We have protocols we have to follow and execute punishment according to the School’s Code of Conduct.’’
‘From what I have been told, she is known for bullying but mostly bullies my son. He is an easy target as he is one of the shortest and skinniest children in his grade which was true for me growing up as well,’ Broke wrote in her blog.
‘This child committed a felony under adult standards and suspension was the ‘correct form of discipline?’’ she added.

According to guidance by the Virginia Department of Education, schools are not legally responsible for enforcing a court order, but safety should still be a priority and a school can determine steps if an order is violated.
A Fairfax County Public Schools rep told WUSA in a statement: ‘The school administration handled the situation in line with the student discipline manual (FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities). We are unable to share further information due to federal privacy laws.’
Brock told WUSA she plans on moving her son to another school and he has sought therapy.
‘Do you know how many parents have come to me telling me their child were bullied, harassed, sexually assaulted, abused, and harmed at school and how they repeatedly go to the school asking them to do something and the school does nothing?’ the mom wrote.
‘These parents ask me what they need to do to get the schools to take action- and I have to say, ‘I don’t know. The school has video of a crime and a protection order and they still only believed that suspension was enough to keep my child safe,’ she added.
The incident comes after after a number of national bullying episodes being caught on video, including a 15 year old boy and another boy beating a 9 year old Florida girl on a school bus along with video of a 14-year-old New Jersey girl, Adriana Kuch, being mercilessly set upon by four girls in a school hallway, only for the girl to take her own life two days later after video of the assault began circulating social media.
Too bad you teachers do not give the name and address of the kid to someone who would do something about it. Oh, but wait, we need to protect the bully, right?

She’s not a victim, her kid is. Her job is to protect her kid, so far she’s failing.

You guessed right. And there is no point in court injunctions and no-approach orders at all. This is Public Schools. The problem is endemic. If parents actually care about their kids and not just about their own pride then they have already got their children out of the public Schools.
The girl is a big black girl who will grow up to be one of those bulky strong females who populate the airport brawls and diner brawls that seem to be a growing fad among the ghetto communities.

I’m not quite sure who that would be. We would name names in a reports to the counselors, the school administrators, the police, and the local magistrate. We would also tell parents exactly what was going on.
Nothing much was ever done. No, I take that back. Some of the old-time gym teachers would confront a bully in the locker room, and “counsel” him, if you get my drift.
I wish I could say that worked, but it usually didn’t. Today’s bullies often have criminal records. They aren’t much scared by teachers. Heck, one of my students shot and killed someone. Yet there he was in my class, wearing an ankle monitor.

Not at all. Bullying is a monstrous thing. Every option to solve it must be explored.

She’s actually working to protect her child and hold the responsible authorities to account. She’s not retreating and fleeing like some of the more weak minded and cowardly would do. I take it you place yourself in the cowardly surrender and flee crowd.
Continue on with your judgmental blaming the victim. I admire that woman for her fighting for her son and, by extension, all the other children in her community.
Sacrificing the kid to the public schools is so noble. No doubt she like others had a pile of junk to keep and a nice car. So the kids life is at stake. So what, moving would cost money, right, right?
If the kid dies, you can celebrate her resolve.
He would not stand a chance. How good are you at fighting someone who is taller and has about twice your body weight?
I used to get harassed and bullied by black thugs in high school. The faculty and cops were worse than useless when I asked for help.
It only ended when I stabbed one of them in the gut. And then nothing happened to me because everyone was more afraid of what would happen if it got on the news.
But I did get left alone after that.
Just curious - what kind of school? Urban? Suburban? Rural? Income/Minority status?
I meet people who teach Amish and farm-kids in rural PA, and others who are in the worst schools in Chicago. I love to hear their stories.
I hesitate to dump on the mom, because her options might be quite limited. And she is doing something. One step at a time, I guess.
But Varda, you do make a very good point. Sometimes you just gotta get out of Dodge. Nothing less will work. Let’s hope that the mom understands this.
As I noted elsewhere on this thread, I spent quite a bit of time as a public school teacher. And yes, I sometimes gave that advice to a worried parent. The administrators do not care to protect your child. And we teachers don’t have the ability. So it’s best to get your kid out of here.
Side note: Having the kid confront and fight the bully might have worked in 1960. But rarely now, at least in the urban schools where I taught. If the kid should win, he WILL be jumped by the bully’s gang in a stairwell, in a locker room, or on the way home. Guaranteed.
Urban schools are just hopeless.
Quick….FLEE! Otherwise you might have to stand your ground. I suspect that’s something you’ve NEVER DONE.

I was quite good at it actually. It only happened once. It was also the last fight I had. No one messed with me after that. The bully no longer bullied. You have to understand bullies are generally successful at bullying because no one fights back. They are scared pussies on the inside and have no idea what to do when someone fights back. If the kid can’t handle this on his own, then he should get someone or some people to beat the crap out of the bully. It’s that or live in fear. No one in charge wants to do anything about it so he has no other choice.
That works. You have an inalienable right to self defense. I assume you went back to your normally peaceful self afterwards.
girls mature faster than boys, and in my experience, I see a subset of black kids who physically mature faster than everyone else. Its most visible in extremes - as I see in our local regional high school football programs.
So take a 12-13 year-old black girl who is growing faster than her peers and a 10 year-old white boy who is slower than his peers, and the size difference will be absolutely huge.

Then little mama’s boy goes to school and 20 black boys beat him within an inch of his life. Then so embarrassed, God forbid tries to hurt himself, like a young girl recently who took her own life.
