To: Leaning Right

Too bad you teachers do not give the name and address of the kid to someone who would do something about it. Oh, but wait, we need to protect the bully, right?

How sickened are you of my statement above? If you are even sickened a little bit, you are part of the problem.

I’m not quite sure who that would be. We would name names in a reports to the counselors, the school administrators, the police, and the local magistrate. We would also tell parents exactly what was going on.

Nothing much was ever done. No, I take that back. Some of the old-time gym teachers would confront a bully in the locker room, and “counsel” him, if you get my drift.

I wish I could say that worked, but it usually didn’t. Today’s bullies often have criminal records. They aren’t much scared by teachers. Heck, one of my students shot and killed someone. Yet there he was in my class, wearing an ankle monitor.

Not at all. Bullying is a monstrous thing. Every option to solve it must be explored.
