Trump’s instincts on social security and Medicare are better than almost every other Republican.
Going after these programs is suicide and hurts Republican voters that are working-class and on fixed incomes the most.

The government does not really run Medicare, that is farmed out to about 3 main insurers who are guaranteed a 10% profit.
Medicare Advantage is entirely run by private insurance companies and has nothing to do with Medicare at all. Once in a Medicare Advantage program you are no longer in traditional Medicare, and if you want back in after a year you have to petition to be readmitted.
Thanks….I was unaware of any Medicare plan that provided groceries.
Obamacare is dreadful…..feel sorry for your boss.
.
Then you must have a Medicare Advantage plan which means you don’t have to pay the Part B premium since you aren’t on Medicare.
It won’t SS they will it will be Medicare because they will have no choice.
I don’t feel guilty at all. Like everyone else I play the game by the rules I didn’t vote for, for my own best interest. But my political opinion is based on what I think is best for the USA, not what is best for me.
You pay the Part B premium on “Advantage” plans...you just don’t usually pay the insurance company a premium. (Like you do for regular Medicare supplemental plans)(Like “Plan G” or “Plan N”.

You are misinformed.
In order to get advantage you must pay the part B premium, unless you are indigent and also on Medicaid.
And anyone can leave advantage to go back to basic medicare. What’s doubtful is acceptance for a non-advantage supplement plan, which may require a medical test.
Then why do they offer you the option of getting that money paid back to your SS if you get an Advantage plan?
Medicare pays the Advantage Plan companies a fixed amount every month per client (varies by Zip Code, but ~$1,200 per month), what benefits the Advantage Plans offers the clients is up to them...some offer the “cash back” option, some don’t. The other stuff you hear on the Jimmy JJ. Walker & Joe Namath ads like “free transportation to the doctor” is usually for Medicaid eligible (low income) clients...(in the fine print at the bottom of the screen).
Some advantage plans with skimpy benefits offer a partial rebate of the part B premium. But a full rebate only comes from government programs for the poor
My Medicare advantage health plan does not offer free groceries as a benefit, I do get a 50.00 a quarter benefit to buy OTC meds, vitamins etc. Oh ya and a zero copay on prescription meds.
It’s all a scam racket.
Hahahahahahaha
Sorry spent years working in health care delivery and insurance.. transparent pricing isn’t going to do Jack crap.. nice conservative talking point but utter BS.
On average a person spends 80% of what they will spend on health care for their entire lives in the last 2 years of their life… which for the massive majority of Americans is when they are on Medicare.
Transparent pricing sounds nice, but it won’t move the needle a single fraction of a degree.
Company I worked for increased their profits by multiple tens of millions of dollars, not through competition, but through getting better at coding Medicare for reimbursement. Didn’t do anything different in terms of health care delivery but made tens of thousands more in revenues and profits by becoming better at coding Medicare reimbursement.
US is effectively a single payer system, pretending it’s not… 80-90% of revenues come from Medicare payments not private insurance payments or cash payments from individuals.
Sorry folks I know it pops the ideological bubble, but competition and free markets do not drive the health care system.
Tradition Medicare does not do that, just how did this Dr sign you up for medicare?Medicare?? Without your permission
You satisfied with current system of limiting medical schools and hospitals, and restricting the services nurse practitioners can perform? What do you think of Americans who go to Mexico or Caribbean for medical treatment at much lower cost? Can you be unbiased as a veteran of the insurance system that sustains current price structures and levels?
Just what MA plan do you have??? And with who
Agreed about socialism being poison. To get medical and insurance costs down here, the system would need to be as seriously and harshly regulated as in Singapore. In other words, socialism in medical care in some form or other exists in every developed country. Otherwise,...well, have a look at medicine in third world countries.
Imagine the burdens on the medical system here from contemporary drug abuse. Slavery is expensive, even if the drudges are paying for it. And they don’t get medical help.
Why are we even talking cutting ss. How about cutting all the money for a proxy war or to all the political pet projects? Maybe the Federal Government should take a hint from cooperations and trim the fat? There are so many we could cut, why punish the retired and elderly? It’s our damn money, not an entitlement. It was taken from our paychecks (for our own good, in our old age) that they could manage it better than we could. Anyone remember when W thought about making it private? Oh no the expert said, folks may invest unwisely and have nothing. How did that work out? It’s not folks’ fault the Fed Gov can’t manage it’s budget and stole and spent our money. Any other institution and it’d be a crime. Class action lawsuit? language they’d understand.
Can't be done. Our system is rife with corruption and a lot of people in power get money for keeping this stuff so messed up. You can't pry them out of power and so you can't fix anything.
