Agreed about socialism being poison. To get medical and insurance costs down here, the system would need to be as seriously and harshly regulated as in Singapore. In other words, socialism in medical care in some form or other exists in every developed country. Otherwise,...well, have a look at medicine in third world countries.
Imagine the burdens on the medical system here from contemporary drug abuse. Slavery is expensive, even if the drudges are paying for it. And they don’t get medical help.

The only thing needed to get costs down would be to outlaw all medical insurance except catastrophic coverage. If people have to pay cash for medical care they will shop and bargain like they do for everything else. The free market works magic.
