Twitter suspended several high-profile journalists Thursday evening who have been covering the company and Elon Musk.
The suspensions come a day after Twitter changed its policies around accounts that track private jets, including one owned by Elon Musk.
The accounts of Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Micah Lee of The Intercept and independent journalists Aaron Rupar, Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster had all been suspended as of Thursday evening.
The Twitter account for Mastodon, a platform billed as an alternative, was also suspended early Thursday evening.
It was not immediately clear why the accounts were suspended, though some had been tweeting about the suspension of the Twitter account that tracked Musk's jet and its availability on Mastodon.

I think maybe after some crazy stalked, blocked and jumped on the hood of the car transporting his son, Musk figured better safer than sorry
Yeah.. that threat to his son spooked him...
Going after the boss and being caught, generally never ends well.
Rupart is truly vile. Olbermann is just a mental patient.
Happy to see Twitter has opened several accounts and now I can scroll through my favorite contributors and not be blocked without signing on to the platform.
“It was not immediately clear why the accounts were suspended…”
Awww, tough nuts.
I remember when Olberman had that show on MSNBC - repugnant human... I don’t know what he said to get banned... bet he deserved it though. Rupar doxxed the location of Musk’s jet after Musk had declared that topic verboten real-time.
Keith Olberman should have been suspended, he has been calling violence and absurdity for quite awhile. So now those on the left are feeling what those on the right have put up with. Well they can go to another Social Media site.
Be still my heart.
Goose.
Gander.
>> It was not immediately clear why the accounts were suspended
I recall that back in the day, the ‘ratfilth collective lectured me that Twitter is a private company and they can suspend an account for any reason, or no reason at all. Do I have that right?
I hope the suspension notice contains some choice “horse you rode in on” language.

Or “learn to code” and start their own! :-)
Hey, Journos! You cheered when it was Trump and conservatives getting banned. How does it feel now?
It’s interesting watching it happen in real-time... a lot of conservatives and libertarians like Greenwald disagree with the suspensions. You just know the reverse would not be true (and wasn’t) when it was conservatives being suspended.....
Journalists died out 20 years ago. I’m not sure what we should call what there is today?
"a born fabulist, with an imagination unfettered by the laws of logic and probability"
What were they suspended from? How high?
