A few days ago, I emailed Elon Musk.
“Are you worried that a company you helped found—PayPal—is now part of an emerging private social credit system?” I wrote. “And is buying Twitter, in part, an effort to fulfill the mission that PayPal seems to have abandoned?”
It seemed unlikely that he’d reply. He was busy reimagining his new social-media company, shooting rockets into space, upending the electric-vehicle industry, trolling AOC.
But one hour later, at 6:55 p.m., eastern time, an email popped up in my inbox. From the new owner of Twitter.
It was just one word:
“Definitely!”
You can donate to FR through Paypal. I don’t use it, though.
I bet if we were allowed a look under the hood we discover the Government has a hand in this.
Used Paypal once a while back. Now I keep getting spam from people trying to scam me with fake invoices, even though I don’t belong to Palpal anymore.
I use VENMO. Very straightforward and simple.
Yeah.
Twitter has so much reach that Musk is really well-positioned to exercise some more of his “creative destruction” on the knuckleheads who (many believe) are the smartest-guys-in-the-room.
Could be an interesting time.
Pay pal tried to rip me off for $200 a decade ago. I was smart enough to beat them to the punch and prevent it. I ignored their legal threats for a couple of months and they gave up. I would never, ever trust them.
Wait till they roll out the CBDC and see how quickly funds are taken away or denied.
I know somebody who uses PayPal for their services other than payments. For instance, that person uses them to create and send invoices to clients who then Zelle their payments. That person also uses PayPal to create mailing labels with postage.
Just a CBDC preview. Totalitarians are salivating over taking the PayPal experiments system-wide.
I have not used PayPal in years. I will not use it again.
Canceled my PayPal account a few months ago. Only used it for an annual payment to my VPN provider. They take credit cards now, so I switched to credit card.
The credit card companies are just as evil, unfortunately.
matters not. I don’t have a pp account.
I signed up for a paypal account many years ago, and never used it. I don’t even know what email account I used, and it’s possibly an email account I’ve closed.
Now I’m receiving messages at a new email that I never used for paypal, asking me to ‘review my account’.
I can’t find any way to contact Paypal customer service to close this account - every option requires logging in, which I cannot do. Does anyone know how to reach them without accessing an account?
Bkmk
Have tried to cancel Paypal several times to no avail. How does one cancel it?
My Paypal locked itself. There’s a notification with vague wording that essentially is the same as these closure reports — no reason given and no way to find out. No clue on this end since I wasn’t doing anything interesting with it. Probably link-crawled from other Big Tech to here or somesuch. Locked for being deplorable.
This lock is extra cool because I can’t close the account due to the lock. There’s $0 and no attachment to bank or other account, so I guess they can enjoy their non-account. Twitter’s actually closed out years since; I just neglected my Facebook thing so long ago that it (almost certainly) points to long-gone email and (?) phone info. I’d close it but it’d hoover up my new info in the process and defeat the whole purpose of closing it.
I always forget I have a PayPal account until the mother-in-law sends money through it for the kids for Christmas or birthdays...
ONLINE MONEY FROZEN===
Biden wants to end paper & coin money in the USA.
Left PayPal long, long, long ago when the writing first appeared on the wall...
For anyone still using it, lie down with dogs, expect fleas...
