In 23 Words, Elon Musk Defines the Battle of Our Lifetimes
Liberty Daily ^ | • Nov. 29, 2022 | By J.D. Rucker

It is not hyperbole to state the loss of free speech in America would be the end of society as we know it. It’s the linchpin that keeps tyranny from engulfing the world. If it is removed, all of the wheels come flying off.

Elon Musk has been fighting to maintain digital free speech since before he purchased Twitter. Even those of us who are concerned about his other interests such as transhumanism and artificial intelligence must admit that his free speech fight is worthwhile. While the vast majority of billionaires are busy spreading globalism, increasing their riches, or both, Musk seems uniquely poised to take on our enemies with his financial power.

His latest declaration on Twitter is spot on and encapsulates the importance of free speech in America in 23 words:

This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead.

Free speech is more than just an avenue of expression. It allows accountability that isn’t unique to the United States. This is why the Chinese Communist Party and other entities desperately police speech and do whatever they can to subvert it as a freedom in the United States. It’s also why their proxies among American leftists are so adamant to oppose Musk in his quest.

As biologist Colin Wright noted on Twitter:

The massive immune response we are seeing from Left-wing media and Big Tech to @elonmusk’s commitment to free speech on Twitter should frighten you. It has revealed their rabid obsession for complete narrative control. This is a battle they cannot be allowed to win.

Like Musk, Wright is 100% correct.

Suppressing legal speech is tantamount to quashing the foundation of all rights. No freedoms can be protected if speech is filtered through ideological lenses that only benefit tyrants. This is why opponents of free speech are the world’s most dangerous villains.

Spot on!

Elon Musk appears to be following through with his promises.

He should be supported. If free speech wins, the tyrants lose.

They have been ruling the USA by controlling the information flow for 70 years.

They have been moving the culture leftward for the same time frame, because they controlled 98% of the Media.

Voting security is the greatest battle of our time because once fraud is enshrined it becomes functionally impossible to vote our way out of it. The world would survive without twitter

“Free speech is more than just an avenue of expression. It allows accountability that isn’t unique to the United States”

~~~
The press used to defend the first amendment aggressively. Well, at least their part of it. Maybe freedom of religion not so much.... and freedom of speech didn’t seem as important as the press, even though they defended the press as a way to be a check on the government.
It is as if they are suggesting that they are representatives of the public with checks and balances against elected representatives.
BUT.... when the public has free speech, including the ability to speak against the government, suddenly it’s not such a noble right.
While I avoided Twitter forever after several brief encounters with vile self righteous and self important libidiots, i now have a need to support Musk and his enterprise. Even just spending a few minutes daily will add to the traffic count. I can do that much. You can do that much.
Free speech is the right to be wrong.
Even a lot of Freepers have trouble with that concept.
Never forget that the only thing that keeps the First Amendment protected is The Second Amendment.
The Left wants to get rid of that too.
Spot on.
Jim doesn't allow unmoderated free speech on this platform.
Do you think that's a threat to civilization?
Or is it only other people's forums that must allow content they don't want?
Elon Musk appears to be following through with his promises.
But we need to remember that freedom comes with responsibilities and free speech comes with responsibilities.
Free speech for the sake of free speech, or free speech for a purpose. What is that purpose?
What is this word ‘accountability’?
It’s been decades since it’s been practiced.
It’s like gun ‘rights’.
If the government can take them away, you never had them in the first place.
I re-activated my account just over a week ago once they reinstated Donald Trump's account.
It's been a pleasure being back on it. I had been using Truth Social since since its inception back around February and plan to stay on it. But at some point, Trump is going to have to find someway to have his platform co-exist with Twitter. He's got nearly 90,000,000 followers on that platform - still barely 5,000,000 on Truth Social.
No reason the two platforms can't complement each other and I since Truth Social is built from the ground up without any reliance on big tech infrastructure, we might need that to fall back on in the future.
FreeRepublic is more or less JimRob's "living room". We are guests having a conversation. Not the same as Twitter, at all.
Do you allow the public into your living room, and let them say anything they want?
Didn't think so.
Twitter has rules for entering their "living room". One of them is you agree to let them moderate the content.
