Way to go, Joe!
Interesting story on Alignable.
Due to high inflation, reduced consumer spending, higher rents and other economic pressures, U.S.-based small business owners’ rent problems just escalated to new heights nationally this month, based on Alignable’s November Rent Poll of 6,326 small business owners taken from 11/19/22 to 11/22/22.
Unfortunately, 41% of U.S.-based small business owners report that they could not pay their rent in full and on time in November, a new record for 2022. Making matters worse, this occurred during a quarter when more money should be coming in and rent delinquency rates should be decreasing. But so far this quarter, the opposite has been true.
Last month, rent delinquency rates increased seven percentage points from 30% in September to 37% in October. And now, in November, that rate is another four percentage points higher, reaching a new high across a variety of industries.
All told in Q4 so far, the rent delinquency rate continues to increase at a significant pace, up 11 percentage points from where it was just two months ago.
Well, this is not good.
And on the mortgage front, not all is quiet.
Commercial bank holding of Agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) has collapsed with Fed tightening and mortgage rate increases.
Ain’t that a lot of bad news for real estate and the mortgage market.

Best economy EVAH!!!
But this is what 81 million people voted for...
But look at how bad things are in China and Russia...
Needs a new, bigger TARP! /s
But things were SO MUCH BETTER when Trump was in office, right here in USA.
Biden is letting more and more people in who cannot pay rent.
It sorta is. People who voted Democratic want eternal rent moratoriums, mortgage moratoriums, 100% student loan debt forgiveness, credit card debt forgiveness, and guaranteed "living wage" universal income while "working from home" at whatever hours they care to "work."
These times take things to work through the economy.
Interest rate inversion of 3 month and 10 year government bonds always eventually end up in an “official” recession. As an indicator, it has never failed. The average time is about 330 days after the inversion occurs.
We’ve already had a very deep inversion of rates.
The clock is ticking.
FUBAR...
I wonder how far this would go until the indoctrinated finally become truly “woke” to the scam that is the democrap party. I really think if they were homeless, penniless, starving and fighting at the local dump for scraps of banana peels to eat, they would STILL vote democrap.
Ukraine.
“41% of U.S.-based small business owners report that they could not pay their rent in full and on time in November”
I find that rather hard to believe.
Many commercial landlords require small business owners to be personally liable for the business rent.
Well, econ 1 tells you the answer to that problem - the collapse happens, the real estate gets repossessed and sold at prices that can be supported by the rents that people can pay. Or you spend more gubmint money and bail everyone out and drive inflation even higher.
I pick option no. 2.
Unless they are incorporated or operate as an LLC they already are anyway. It will just serve to spread the bankruptcy.
“Biden is letting more and more people in who cannot pay rent.”
“Refugess” are eligible for full welfare benefits.
No stinking Section 8 wait listing for them I believe.
US government housing vouchers cover a very large percentage of private sector rental units.
In Florida small businesses have to pay about $800 for an annual state fee for incorporation I believe. Most incorporate and pay it.
Very misleading headline from the suspect source.
Headline should have included U.S.-based small business owners
Yup.
But if they can’t pay. They can’t pay.
“TARP”
South of me there apparently was very severe hurricane damage from Ian.
One company, “Allsnake” according to my neighbor the roofing contractor, initially to pay to replace a man’s roof. The man is a relative of my Democratic neighbors.
A dental assistant told me about 70% of the roofs in Englewood where I believe she lived had tarps on their roofs.
