I’m dying for a speaker like Joe Cannon, who served during the administrations of Roosevelt 26 and Taft and wielded even more power than Nancy Pelosi did. Another great GOP speaker was Nicholas Longworth, who ruled the House while Coolidge and Hoover were in the White House.

Nancy Pelosi rightfully will go down as one of the greatest speakers in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives. I’m not sure I would agree with Pelosi on a single policy issue; that’s not the point. Even if she did look great, it was BECAUSE of the bumbling republicans. Compared to bumbling idiots, anyone can look good if they half try.
