Living in a blue area with a blue family I see the chasm as still wide.
They all see themselves as enforcing what is only reasonable given how dangerous and contagious they consider the Rona to have been — and therefore how criminally selfish and duped the unjabbed are as well. They believe that the jabs have now been shown safe and so the unjabbed proven idiotic.
Naomi Wolf is a really curious and interesting woman, she fits absolutely no pigeonhole and her independence has really upset many in the feminist and ‘progressive’ communities. She went from being married to a NYT editor to being married to a GI who now is a private dick.
So this week isn’t over - our family has been told we are not invited to Thanksgiving dinner because of our decision to be unvaccinated. Certain family members are still hiding in their homes - only venturing out for necessities - for almost 3 years! My heart aches and breaks for them - they have been sold a pack of lies and they have imposed a cruel lifestyle upon themselves as a result. Living with that kind of fear is horrible. I can forgive them for being duped - but how can we forgive our govt and institutions for doing this to individuals and families? How are they still in power?
WOW! I can only conclude things were very different in Blue states. Here in NC we had a mask mandate which, once you got outside of Charlotte (and probably the Triangle and Asheville) nobody bothered with. None of the other Southern states had even that.
After a very brief couple weeks of lockdown, life pretty much returned to normal. I couldn’t continue to live in an oppressive state like the one she described.

I suspect it bothers the hell out of her that the Americans most likely to be on her side in resisting the Branch Covidian lockdowns and mandates were black people living in urban ghettos and white people living in rural trailer parks.

Maybe I’m warped but if I really don’t have to answer something with the truth because the truth that they’re looking for is obscene, I just lie. Maybe I’ll go to hell for that. But you know what? I don’t have to put up with much b******* when I can just say “yeah sure.”
But before I get piled on, let me just say that the last movie I have seen in a movie theater was The Passion. I think movie theater cleanliness is non existent and I’m not a germaphobe but when your shoes stick to the floor why would you put yourself through that?
To top it off, I cook about 98% of the food that I consume from scratch, if I can cook better than the restaurant that people want to go... I’ll go home and cook my own food because everything else is sub standard to my trained abilities. And I enjoy that.
And when they went to shopping for you and delivering the food to your car in the parking lot.. not that I like that but I have very little facetime in public places partially because I don’t want to be out in public too much, and also because I just went through almost 3 years of physical therapy for two construction accidents back to back and that just kind of kept me home, especially when I got the word from my hand specialist that I really should be doing physical therapy on that hand every waking hour. So that was my covid experience, it was non-existent because I didn’t participate.
