Twenty-four years ago today, I “officially” became a FReeper. I had attended the March for Justice on October 31, 1998, and that event convinced me the FRee Republic was the “right” place to “hang out.”
Having “lurked” for a few months prior to the March for Justice, I was delighted to meet so many like-minded people, all of whom came to WDC on their own nickel, to exercise their First Amendment Rights and protest the Clinton administration. March for Justice video
It was the first of many “FReeps” I attended in the WDC area (and elsewhere over the years) before I had to move to Florida in 2004 to attend to my late mother.
In the period of time I was in WDC, the WDC FRee Republic Chapter was VERY actively protesting against Bill Clinton and the LIEberal scumbags who were (and still are!) intent on overthrowing our Constitutional Republic. Our FRiday night “We Support Our Troops” Walter Reed Army Medical Center FReeps are most memorable. Scroll down to the DC Chapter “DC Chapter AAR – WRAMC DOG DAYS OF SUMMER ARRIVE” thread.
Once “hooked” on the AAR, you will find many more interesting threads about FReeper activities down stream FRom that one.
I am posting this "vanity" to thank all of you with whom I have interacted with over these past 24 years who have had a positive influence on my life via FRee Republic. Since I would invariably leave out someone (there are WAAAAY too many to name), I'll just say "Thank you FReepers!" Our FRiday night “We Support Our Troops” Walter Reed Army Medical Center FReeps are most memorable
Finally, thank you JimRob, and your family for providing this forum and allowing us to discuss the important matters of our time!
May OUR FRee Republic continue to flourish!
Eagles Up!
Back in the mid 1990s I had my own web page—but Jim’s was better—so in 1998 I took the easy way out, shut down my page—and came here...
Yup!
That I are.
Did not know of FRee Republic until summer, 1998.
Oct. 31, 1998 convinced me that FRee Republic was a “thing,” and that I wanted to participate.
REALLY glad I became a FReeper!
Congratulations!
Welcome, newb! July 98
Your homepage says June 16, 2000, unless my eyes are deceiving me tonight, which they could be. Been bothering me for an hour.
I apparently am a “noob” also!
Exit 148 and cgbg beat me to FRee Republic.
And, I know Fer Shure! Fer Shure! That there are others1
I am just glad to see that after almost 26 years on the ‘net, JimRob’s passion, OUR FReeRepublic.com is still here kicking the crap out of LIEberals!
Noob.
L
I remember the Walter Reed protests quite well - remember the MOAB?
What fun!
Somehow I missed your post, you old FReeper you!
Hope you and yours are healthy and staying safe!
Same here. 24 years today. Would be nice to meet you someday before the nursing home thing. lolol.
I found FR on the Drudgereport. Lurked for a year.
I joined and made my first post on the day of the Columbine Massacre, April 20, 1999.
Oh, and thanks to the Robinsons and everyone else who have made this site work and the availability.
We’re doing okay for FReepers gettin’ old! (She’s gone to bed already)
Nothing Dr. Advil can’t handle. HA!
Good to see you hanging in there...
The March and the great party that was compliments of the Texans were memorable...
Since Oct 13, 1998 My sign on date. It has been an
interesting ride for me. Hope you enjoyed yours.
Great post!
FRee Republic has been my “GOTO” source for 24 years!
My old age and decrepitude (I don’t mind the old age so much, but this decrepitude business is serious) preclude me FRom being able to recall details of the past 24 years, but it is truly remarkable how FRee Republic has been so successful.
May FRee Republic continue being the “GOTO” source for REAL NEWS!
It’s been an interesting ride for all of us - - Jim Rob and his merry band of freepers. Thankful for adventures and comradery, Nice story Taxxman Congratulations on 24.
NAAAH!
I am a VERY small fish in a VERY large pond!
HST, I refuse to live in fear, and the FBI doesn’t care about people like me.
If we refuse to exercise our Constitutional Rights, we will lose them!
Yours is one of the names I have seen over the years. I joined September 1998. Fair Tax, yes indeed. I chose jobim after my favorite composer.
We joined in the run-up to Clinton 2nd term mid-terms, and here we are on the cusp of Armageddon mid-terms. Decidedly worse now, no? We’ll have to hang around on FR another couple of decades to get things right.
Thanks!
What is that you are sellin/promoting on your home page?
Chinese pictographs are difficult, if not impossible, for me to read?
