Twenty-four years ago today, I “officially” became a FReeper. I had attended the March for Justice on October 31, 1998, and that event convinced me the FRee Republic was the “right” place to “hang out.”
Having “lurked” for a few months prior to the March for Justice, I was delighted to meet so many like-minded people, all of whom came to WDC on their own nickel, to exercise their First Amendment Rights and protest the Clinton administration. March for Justice video
It was the first of many “FReeps” I attended in the WDC area (and elsewhere over the years) before I had to move to Florida in 2004 to attend to my late mother.
In the period of time I was in WDC, the WDC FRee Republic Chapter was VERY actively protesting against Bill Clinton and the LIEberal scumbags who were (and still are!) intent on overthrowing our Constitutional Republic. Our FRiday night “We Support Our Troops” Walter Reed Army Medical Center FReeps are most memorable. Scroll down to the DC Chapter “DC Chapter AAR – WRAMC DOG DAYS OF SUMMER ARRIVE” thread.
Once “hooked” on the AAR, you will find many more interesting threads about FReeper activities down stream FRom that one.
I am posting this "vanity" to thank all of you with whom I have interacted with over these past 24 years who have had a positive influence on my life via FRee Republic. Since I would invariably leave out someone (there are WAAAAY too many to name), I'll just say "Thank you FReepers!" Our FRiday night “We Support Our Troops” Walter Reed Army Medical Center FReeps are most memorable
Finally, thank you JimRob, and your family for providing this forum and allowing us to discuss the important matters of our time!
May OUR FRee Republic continue to flourish!
Eagles Up!
Ironically, since I do not "do" popular culture, I was totally unaware at the time that the Beatles had a VERY popular song by that name!
Actually, I adopted that "handle" because I was then, and still am, an activist for the FAIRtax
I used the FRee Republic Forum to advocate for it.
Comments?
CONGRATULATIONS brother!
It will be 24 years as well for me on December 20. 🙂
Way to go, newbie!
;-)
Congrats! I started lurking in 1998, joined under another nickname in 2003, posted for a while then stopped. Moved, couldn’t remember my credentials, so JimRob kindly let me pick another handle.
Congratulations! I think I originally came onboard in 1999, but no longer had access to my organization’s email address when I left there. I lurked for a few more years and came back on board a few years later.
Time flies!
It was 24 years today
Sergeant Pepper told the band to play
They’ve been going in and out of style
You put this song in my head.
But congratulations, that’s a long time.
My 23rd was last month.
Here's the Beatles song you mentioned.
I don’t do acronyms very well.
What is AAR?
Congrats. I guess I am at 19 as of monday, though I did lurk for a year or two before I officially joined
Congratulations! My anniversary here will be 22 years tomorrow, November 3.
While we are at it,
I’m the Taxman...
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the taxman
Yeah, I’m the taxman
Now you have me wanting to watch some Beatles videos.
Yer old.
Congratulations! I didn’t remember my sign up date, but I checked and it was January of 2020. How quickly time passes.
LOL!
I did not like the Beatles when they were popular in the popular culture; I kinda likem now.
Thanks for the lyrics. Obviously, I have heardem once or twice in the last 24 years!
Enjoy the videos!
Congratulations!
We are long haul FReepers!
Another “long haul FReeper!”
Congratulations!
They sold after and we had lost our internet com for a while until about early 2000 or so. I guess there was some kind of legal hassle that caused the suspension.
Re up in July of 2001.
After Action Report.
Read some of them; I think you will enjoy them!
There are well over 200 just FRom WRAMC!
And, we “FReeped” alotta deserving LIEberals back in the day!
I loved doing Walter Reed with the DC Chapter back in the day and drive by our corner this past Monday. I got a little misty eyed looking at our former roost.
