“a cousin of both Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggert—IIRC—”
Don’t care for Swagert’s “theology” but of the 3 I liked his boogey woogy gospel the most.

"Frankie Avalon as well."
So there's Anka, Dion, Avalon, and Fabian is still performing.

Are you sure you're not thinking of "Runaway"? It did have "I Wonder Why" in the chorus. Well, let me introduce you to a great classic!

Nah, Elvis surely died when his daughter married Michael Jackson.
Jerry Lee was the last surviving member of the Million Dollar Quartet. It was a jam session at Sun Studio in Memphis on 12/4/1956, with Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash.

Dion is the last big star from the ‘50’s alive AFAIK. Pat Boone was mostly famous for doing covers so he doesn’t really count in my opinion. The Killer was the last living member of the original class of the RnR Hall of Fame so you could say that chapter in music history has ended. Fred Parris of The Five Satins and In The Still of the Night fame died this year, too.

All the media treating the career criminals Nancy Pelosi like she’s the president and her crook husband like he’s he’s the first husband, while not one mention of the great Jerry Lee Lewis. Bastards.

My idea of great celebrity dinner guests would be Dean Martin and Fats Domino. They are both so relaxing to have around.

He had so many bad self-destructive habits he should have died at 39 years old.
