Democrats scramble to avert shock Senate loss in Washington state
Politico ^ | 10/16/2022 | By Natalie Allison

Democrats are adding millions in television spending to boost Sen. Patty Murray, a sign that the party is employing a take-no-chances approach even in solidly blue Washington state.

The 30-year veteran of the Senate is facing a challenge from Republican Tiffany Smiley, a political newcomer whose campaign has seized on quality-of-life issues, from urban crime and homelessness to inflation, to tarnish Murray. In recent public polling, Smiley has closed a sizable gap since this summer, when Murray led by 18 percentage points in an 18-candidate, all-party primary.

A Seattle Times poll released last week showed Murray slipping slightly, from 51 percent in a July survey to 49 percent now, with Smiley’s support increasing from 33 percent this summer to 41 percent now. The poll also finds that Smiley has improved with independents in the state, capturing 50 percent of their support to Murray’s 34 percent.

The national political environment currently favors Republicans in the midterms, and the fact that Democrats are spending to shore up an incumbent in a solidly blue state is not a good sign for them.

This is the reporting from the same scum media outlet who published a push poll today saying that the generic ballot shows Dimms leading Republicans by 5 points.

That push poll had a D+13 sample. It was laughable.

Murray is going to survive, but their internal polls obviously show this same movement and they can’t afford to take any chances. So all of this money being shifted there to shore her up could have been spent in more competitive races and now will not be.

Republican Tiffany Smiley, a political newcomer whose campaign has seized on quality-of-life issues, from urban crime and homelessness to inflation, to tarnish Murray.

That is the only reason to support issues that concern voters - to tarnish the opposition.

The entire world has gone off the rails.

There will be more D ballots in King Co. than there are people in the West side of the state.

Seattle’s homeless population votes—over and over and over again.

Their “address” is the County Courthouse—and local “activists” stuff the ballot boxes in that precinct.

Don’t worry—the homeless don’t have to make the trek to vote—it is all done for them.

How convenient “democracy” is!

"...The 30-year veteran of the Senate is facing a challenge from Republican Tiffany Smiley, a political newcomer whose campaign has seized on quality-of-life issues, from urban crime and homelessness to inflation, to tarnish Murray..."

Gee. That is so unfair.

One might reword it as "...Stalin is facing a challenge from Nikita Kruschev, a political newcomer whose campaign has seized on quality-of-life issues, from Gulag banishment, and unjustified executions to kangaroo courts, to tarnish Stalin..."

I didn't even get beyond that, it hit me the same way. Or...

"...The sitting President is facing a challenge from Republican DONALD TRUMP, a political newcomer whose campaign has seized on quality-of-life issues, from urban crime and homelessness to inflation, to tarnish Biden..."

And if there aren’t, they’ll find them on the recount (Rossi 2002).

At this point the magical money machine spewing confetti bucks far and wide is permanently stuck on “”HI” “, I’m not persuaded they are worried about campaign $$.

The dead vote plus the imaginary voters who use non-existent addresses in Seattle will push her over the top.

Murray seemed like the dumbest member of the Senate until Kamala Harris brought her peanut brain into that body.

Ron Wyden from Oregon should also get a honorable mention, he’s definitely in the same category of stupid.

I am confused!

Sloe Joe and his criminal/corrupt/chaotic LIEberal Democrat buddies, in less than two years, have REALLY and TOTALLY effed up America, and there are still people that will vote for them?

EVERYBODY (except the “anointed FRiends of Sloe Joe) is REALLY hurting BIGLY!

And they are gonna pull the D” lever on Nov. 8?

UNBELIEVABLE!

NO DEMOCRAT SHOULD WIN AN ELECTION ON NOV 8!

I am not a Seattle resident, being north of there in King County, but Seattle did elect a Republican mayor for the first time in decades.

Off topic, a judge fined Meta, the owner of Facebook, 5.52 million for 882 violations of election law in Washington state.

What right does Murray have to stay in office? All she has is her smear of Smiley because she is Pro-life. The case for Abortion, a state’s rights issue, was settled in the early ‘70s. If the Senate tried to pass a national ban on abortion, it would be struck down by the courts. So, the Washington Dems have nothing that matters for the electorate. Instead, they should worry about gas prices, inflation, WW-3 with Russia, crime, fentanyl overdoses, open borders, and homelessness—all because of Murray and their pathetic party.

Well said. Remember Patty, Osama Momma, Murray? The smart Republicans in Washington knew the Dem dummies voted in a lemon.

I was stationed at Whidbey Island for almost 4 years. I used to know the area well. When I was there the Seattle suburbs ended at Everett. When I went back in 2004, they had extended halfway to Mt. Vernon. I imagine it is all the way to Mt Vernon, now.
