Newsweek wasted column space treating a claim that nuclear war could “solve” climate change as serious enough to warrant a fact-check, and ended up legitimizing the idea to an extent. Yes, really.
The insane article, headlined “Fact Check: Would Nuclear War 'Solve' Climate Change,” said that while it was “false” to say that a nuclear war would “solve” the climate crisis, “it is true that even a small nuclear war could have a global cooling effect.” The fact-check continued: “There is ample evidence to suggest that a nuclear war would have a temporary global cooling effect (at least on land), but this is not the same as solving either global warming or the climate crisis more widely."
This is like trying to seriously fact-check whether Thanos erasing half the universe’s population would actually heal it or whether the Death Star nuking Alderaan would reduce intergalactic congestion. Neither of those fact-checks need to be done. The Newsweek one also didn’t need to be done.

Newsweek discredited itself in 2005 when it published a fake story about a Koran getting flushed down a toilet, causing more than a hundred people to die in riots abroad. Those who read Newsweek should be reminded of that.

Climate change, my big toe. These totalitarians are only interested in world domination. They simply think it will be easier to gain control after the nuclear cataclysm. They don’t care if the world population is 8B or 3, just as long as they are in charge.
