As the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) say they hope their offensive reaches the city of Kherson by this winter, Russia continues preparation for a massive counterattack which could begin as early as next month. The results of that battle are likely to be bloody and destructive, but unlikely to settle the war one way or the other.

You could debate that the USSR no longer exists so Russia is technically a new country. The UN isn't obligated to give the former seat of USSR to Russia. Otherwise Russia should share the seat with 14 other former republics of the USSR.
I can top you with silly, romantic, nonsense political cliches - "they are fighting for beauty, truth, and the Ukraine way"
In every town Ukrainians have liberated they have found mass graves and torture chambers.
That’s the reality of the Russian occupation.
—-> That’s what people said a few days into the war. Check your calendar.
I was also told ukraine would end the war in 30 days.
Twice at different times.
Just as the Ukrainians are using T-55s...........keep talking sport.
So, after “in 2-3 days”, after Wunderwaffe, etc it’s now General Winter to the rescue...
Wow.
—> Now the Ukrainians are pushing east.
I think we’ll know by January - either way
That is an attempt to rewrite history, the world knew that Russia would roll over Ukraine in days or weeks.
It was an incredible journey to watch as the weeks turned into months and the world witnessed what was revealed about Russia and its military.
Or the reality of the level of brutality and slaughter of the neo-Nazi Regime in Kyiv.....
I’m just reporting what Zeepers posted here.
And we don’t know the whole story yet
You're so gung-ho about war in Ukraine, why are you still here and not toting a rifle in the Donbas?
Nope, Putin’s army invaded their lands, killed their friends and family.
They want revenge and theg also wsnt to give Putin a black eye do he doesn’t attempt this again in 8 years.
You could. But normally it is simply the state stating whether it is a legal successor or not and if not disputes then ok.
Curious - do you count Crimeans, and people in the Donbas in this glorious, righteous anger?
Yes. A large chunk of Crimeans and Donbas people (more than half in the Donbas) did not and do not want to be under Moscow’s thumb.
The USSR was huge. Russia is only half of that. So they should get the seat 1/2 of the time. Estonia? Maybe one month out of 10 years. Seriously though, you are probably right. We are better off recognizing Russia as the successor state to the USSR.
Maybe I am too old for that. Maybe I’m a coward as I have seen older men than me volunteering and going there, but I decided I won’t.
What I am doing is donating to the Ukrainian war effort and rooting for their inevitable victory to come quicker.
Macgregor thinks that a few were casualties in one Russian missile strike.
It would be a surprise if we didn’t have ‘advisors’ on the ground there. The only thing missing from this exercise is a Gulf of Tonkin incident.
Anybody can post anything, and someone usually does, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual history of the time and the almost 100% agreement that the Russian superpower with their 20 years in the making of a modern, advanced and professional Army of volunteers with new and advanced modern equipment and tactics and capabilities would instantly roll over Ukraine by taking the government in the first days.
It was all an illusion, 8 months later the broken Russian military is hoping to overwhelm its neighbor with Stalin-type fighting, masses of sacrificial cannon fodder, and mass destruction.
You’re saying that:
If you hate people dying of cancer then you must become a medical researcher to cure cancer.
If you hate people losing their homes or even lives to fire then you must become a fireman.
Since you can’t be both then you’re saying you can’t hate both.
