As the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) say they hope their offensive reaches the city of Kherson by this winter, Russia continues preparation for a massive counterattack which could begin as early as next month. The results of that battle are likely to be bloody and destructive, but unlikely to settle the war one way or the other.

So no link, not surprising.

Over 40 Ways Putin’s Russia is Alarmingly Reminiscent of 1930s Nazi Germany
BY INFOAGESTRATEGY ON DECEMBER 28, 2014
Various parallels between Vladimir Putin’s Russia and Fascist Germany in the 1930s.
The Leader
Political power consolidated in hands of one authoritarian figure
One powerful leader surrounded by a core group of lesser, key cronies
Support for The Leader from industrialists / oligarchs
Leader is unwilling to cede power/leave office
Leader harbors enormous resentment towards the West
Cult of the leader
Indoctrinated youth movement devoted to The Leader personally, and is used to attack regime’s “enemies”
The Plan
Exploitation of democratic structures to establish and legitimize authoritarian rule
Manipulation of electoral process to ensure desired outcomes
Rubber-stamp parliament
Façade/trappings of democracy without actual substance, checks & balances
The Legal & Judicial Systems
Law enforcement used to suppress political dissent
Judiciary subverted to serve as regime’s politicized instrument
Punitive use of “psychiatric treatment”
Expropriation of property and trumped-up criminal charges against regime opponents / dissenters
Domestic Political Environment
Persecution and arrest of potential political opponents
Marginalization of political parties (other than the one personally linked to The Leader)
Exploitation of claimed domestic security threat to justify increase security service power
Growth in security services’ powers, authorities and role
Emigration out of the country (political dissenters “voting with their feet”, brain drain)
News Media & Propaganda
Long-term campaign to achieve absolute regime control over mainstream news media
Suppression of independent news media
Persecution (and worse) of journalists
Heavy government investment in propaganda; “Big Lie” approach & dissemination of outright fabrications
Use of propaganda to brainwash, and ensure support of, domestic population
Recurring Themes
Claimed moral superiority over decadent West
Struggles against West described in stark, existentialist terms
Xenophobic nationalism and claims of foreign “threats”, encirclement
Revisionist history
Revanchism
Irredentism
Foreign Policy
Stated need to protect ethnic, linguistic “brothers” residing abroad used to justify interference in neighbor’s internal affairs, invasion and annexation of territory
Threats and belligerence towards neighboring countries
Use of military force to achieve foreign policy objectives
Annexation of foreign territory and attempt to legitimize annexation via rigged plebiscite
Military occupation of sovereign states’ territory
Social Policy
Reproductive policies: State campaign, programs to increase fertility and birth rate
Campaign against foreign words “polluting” the language
Persecution of homosexuals
Economy
Substantial increase in military expenditures (especially compared to amount invested in health care and social services)
Unsustainable, imbalanced economic system (RUS overreliance on selling natural resources)
Drunk or sober, you are trolling the thread, but I understand.
“Drunk or sober, you are trolling the thread, but I understand.”
No, you made a STATEMENT OF FACT, so you MUST have backup for it. This is what you claimed, now it’s time to back it up:
“...8 months later the broken Russian military is hoping to overwhelm its neighbor with Stalin-type fighting, masses of sacrificial cannon fodder, and mass destruction.”
“Unsustainable, imbalanced economic system (RUS overreliance on selling natural resources)”
Link please.
That statement is why I understand your trolling tonight, it can’t be easy for you lately.
YouTube is YouTube, it’s just like here - anyone can claim anything. I’m interested in where Russia has stated that they will thrown huge numbers of bodies into Ukraine to achieve victory, as was implied here by one of our Neocons.
Refer to Putin’s statement on partial mobilization, not going to make you accept reality then don’t reply. Take your head out of sand.
“Refer to Putin’s statement on partial mobilization, not going to make you accept reality then don’t reply. Take your head out of sand.”
I guess that I missed the part where Putin said he would throw bodies into Ukraine to win (like Ukraine seems to do)...could you point me to that part?
Told you, don’t reply and go back to your Russian telegram channel and reject reality in utterly ignorant bliss.
Cold storage means storage in reserve depots. In these depots they should be maintained minimally. This means a program of occasional exercise (driving around a bit), lubrication and maintenance and so on. Due to budgetary limitations for this purpose, most of them just sit there. More importantly, due to the legendary corruption in the Russian army, the tanks are cannibalized for spare parts or the tank components are simply sold on the black market.
Wanna buy a T-62 engine? Got a fine TKN-3B gunner’s sight here for 20,000 rubles!
This type of nonsense results in tanks that have not been touched in 40 to 50 years being selected for use. And when thet send them out there are untold numbers of maintenance problems.
Same story for other vehicles such as the BTR-60s and 70s, BMP-1s and so on.
IIRC two small desal plants were proposed recently and then killed in the planning stage. They of course require electricity that we don’t generate anyway.
California High Speed Rail was never intended to actually get built.
It was always a cover for diverting tax money to donors and cronies of the politicians who vote for it.
“Consultants”. Construction companies that build bridges that will never be connected to anything.
This is what we get in a One-Party state with a captive news media.
A fortune in tax money gets spent but not on basic needs that we have to have.
We don’t generate enough electricity now to meet our needs in times of heavy demand like we had in the recent heat wave. We buy power from neighboring states.
And at the very same time our hair gel governor signs a law that will require every car to be an EV in 13 years.
That may have happened in Portland Oregon but that city is basically an outpost of California crazy. It wouldn’t be surprising if it happened here as well.

See Krosan’s post # 46. Also, most any shaped charge warhead will work on these tanks. Old TOWs, Milans, AT-4s, Spandrels, almost all of them. The turret was cast steel (4 to 8 inches thick most everywhere) with no sandwiching of other materials inside. So a good shaped charge warhead will cut through it easily. Sabot rounds (M735s for 105 mm guns and M829s for 120 mm guns) will go through just about as far as you can engage the T-62.
Talk to Ukrainian refugees. Come on the border with Poland and talk with them as I do, for the link
Is this a 4 man tank versus current 3 man tanks? Will this have any significant impact on personnel or is one of the 4 an easy position for the untrained to fill?
