Right, Jefferson and Madison however were libertarians.

I didn’t know they were for homosexual marriage and homosexuals in the military, open borders for unlimited African immigration, and stuff.

I didn’t even know they were in the lib party.

Maybe they were just fans of Mitch McConnell, Adam Kinzinger and Luz Cheney like all you Republicans.

The Libertarian Party, like the Republican Party houses a range of ideas, most certainly don’t favor those abuses (but the borders were open then) .

The essence of libertarianism is simply “initiate no force or fraud against another” a philosophy very consistent with Jefferson and Madison.

I’m not and never have been a republican.

I do oppose the leftists of the Libertarian party though.

As I said, the Libs keep their platform wording vague but their positions are the same, this is the last time that the libs translated their platform positions into plain language, and here it is on immigration.

Below is the libertarian position on immigration.

This is the actual, 2004 text of the Libertarian Party Platform on immigration.

COMPLETE PLATFORM TEXT
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND CIVIL ORDER

IMMIGRATION:
“”The Issue: We welcome all refugees to our country and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our country and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.

The Principle: We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested. Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age or sexual preference. We oppose government welfare and resettlement payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.

Solutions: We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.

Transitional Action: We call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally.””

No libertarian consistently speaks for another. The only constant is a wish for less government. If you know a party that has as it goal a reduction in government and regulation and consistently puts forth candidates with the goal of reducing government in our lives, let me know. It sure isn’t the Uniparty.

I do think there’s the ideological purity aspect about it, but I also think many Libertarians just enjoy being recalcitrant and ‘courted’ so to speak. They like attention just the same as many who profess themselves to be ‘independents.’ In short, they’re attention-seeking spoilers.

I used to be a member of the Libertarian Party, but then noticed their real purpose was to split the conservative vote so the Democrats win.

A party is absolutely controlled by whoever its donors are, regardless of official party philosophy.

You have a party, individually each Libertarian just says whatever he wants and it is meaningless, merely his own personal fantasy world.

Libs shape their conversation to fit whatever person or group they are talking to, left, right, drug dealers, child molesters, 500 million Africans who want to move to America next week, Red China who wants to conquer the world, they are just goofy and annoying and want to talk about themselves forever.

This is exactly why I quit the Libertarian Party many decades ago.

It’s okay if you judge yourself afraid of freedom and need more government to make your way in this world. I understand.

I see their immigration policy doesn’t bother you.

How about their responses to child molestation?

Which response? The movement is very diverse in terms of opinion. I’m personally opposed to open birders snd child harm. That puts me square in league with most of the libertarians I know.

That is why talking to a Libertarian is a waste of time, they won’t argue the party platform, or the Libertarian goals, it is like trying to nail mercury to the wall.

Libertarians just want to talk and argue, slip-sliding around and wanting you to listen to their completely personal, internal version of their political fantasies and daydreams.

How much more government do you want? Is the current amount acceptable to you? Is there any political movement out there talking about reducing government? Let me know what your finding are.

The Libertarian platform promotes the biggest government possible, far worse than even the democrats, and you support it.

That was incredibly lame, but I’ve known Libertarians since about 1975.
