Palestinian baby picture stirs anger
Associated Press, June 30, 2002.
Despite denials by the Palestinian Authority that it was authentic, the family of a Palestinian baby photographed wearing a mock suicide bomber's uniform replete with sticks of "explosives" and the traditional martyr's red headband confirmed that the photograph was real.
A man who identified himself as the baby's uncle in a television interview with the British Sky News network said, "It was originallytaken during a rally or a graduation party at the university." He was filmed from the back in low light to conceal his identity at his request...
Dore Gold, an adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, said the picture "symbolizes the incitement and hatred which the Palestinian leadership has been using to brainwash an entire generation of Palestinian children."
But Palestinian Labor Minister Ghassan Khatib insisted it was understandable that Palestinians would teach their children violence toward Israelis.
The army, he said, distributed the picture to "tell the world that the Palestinians are teaching their children how to hate Israel and how to act against Israel and I just want to say this is correct."
He said he is against suicide bombings, which the PA officially condemns, and denied his words were an endorsement of them. Rather, he said, suicide bombings are an "unfortunate but inevitable" result of the Israeli occupation, noting polls have found a majority of Palestinians support them. Pictures of older children dressing as suicide bombers are not uncommon, and a boy about 10 was seen at a Hamas rally on Friday wearing fake explosives around his waist.
The IDF also released a collection of video footage Friday it said came from media in the Arab world, including Hizbullah's Al-Manar television station in Lebanon, of children as young as about five dressed in play explosives.
Still, the picture of such a young baby dressed as a suicide bomber was unusual. Col. Miri Eisin, a senior army intelligence analyst, said the ammunition strapped to the baby probably was not real.
But she said the picture, which was found Tuesday in the family album of a senior Hamas fugitive, showed Palestinians were educating their children to embrace violence. The army distributed the photo to the media on Thursday.
"I think it's important for the world, as for us, to understand the depth of what we talk about when we say Palestinian reforms," Eisin said, repeating a call by Israeli and US leaders for the Palestinians to reform their leadership.
Eisin said she did not know if the baby was the Hamas activist's son or relative, and said soldiers photographed the picture and left the original in the family album. She said the soldiers had been looking in the album for an up-to-date picture of the wanted Palestinian, whom she refused to identify.

PA minister: Israelis shouldn't be shocked by 'baby bomber' pic
By Ha'aretz Service and agencies
A Palestinian cabinet minister said Friday that Israelis should not be shocked by the picture of a Palestinian baby photographed wearing a mock suicide bomber's uniform - replete with sticks of 'explosives' and the traditional martyr's red headband.
Labor Minister Ghassan Khatib said the IDF distributed the picture to "tell the world that the Palestinians are teaching their children how to hate Israel and how to act against Israel - and I just want to say this is correct."
Khatib said he opposes suicide bombings, but called the attacks "an unfortunate but inevitable outcome of the Israeli atrocities."
The baby's family told Sky News on Friday that the costume was nothing more than a 'joke.'
The Israel Defense Force published the photograph Thursday, saying that it had been removed from an album found in the house of a suspected terrorist in Hebron. The house was later destroyed.
The authenticity of the photograph could not be verified, but its publication in Israeli newspapers on Friday triggered a new war of words between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
A Palestinian journalist in the Hebron area said she did not believe the picture was a fake and expressed surprise at the furor it caused in Israel.
"I can find you many, many photos like this," she told DPA. "Many kids imitate adults and wear toy masks and guns, especially during marches. It's not strange at all.
She added that she had seen children as young as the one in the photograph wearing similar costumes.
"In our society it happens a lot. It's a kind of phenomenon," she said, adding blue eyes were also not rare in Hebron.
The army did not release the name of the family or say whether it thought the bomb-belt was real.
"What is obvious is that Palestinians are feeding the hatred of Jews and Israelis to their children at the earliest possible age," said David Baker, an official in the office of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Now he’s being sponsored by President Retard
Biden is giving them only more blood money. See http://palwatch.org documentation on PA abuse..
That title makes my head hurt almost as much as looking at the photo.
At least when Dims abort babies they’re not using the babies to kill other people.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once said, “Peace will come when the Arabs start to love their children more than they hate us.”
I remember that cute little bastard.
And yes, I am being sarcastic................. sort of.
Serious question: Why would anyone who is pro-abortion be disturbed by something like this?
They should have just hung a clock on him. Obama would invite him over!
I remember that cute little bastard.
= =
If you were a school teacher, loving your student, you could groom and trans him (to a her).
PS, what is the non-gender specific term for ‘bastard’?
Different story but related. The ugly woman who was chief spokeswoman for the PLO a few years ago promoted to various groups that they get their adolescent children to become active against the Jews and Israelis. She urged them to convince their children to become suicide bombers for the cause.
Later, she was given the news her own child had donned a suicide vest and was making a threat. The hypocritical woman collapsed in hysterics shouting, “No, no not my child. No.”
Great post.
I read a long time ago that among the Arabs themselves, they look down upon the still waiting to be taken care of “Palestinians” as being “like the Americans view their welfare black people.” Wonder if story is still true.
Remember, ALL the Arab states with their enormous square footage claimed to not have room for the “Palestinians” and rejected allowing them area for a state. Hypocritical.
Total square mileage of Israel is 8,019 square miles.
Arab countries near it are 5.07 million square miles.
To say the only place the PLO can fit a state is the same land as Israel is preposterous.

Boy used as bomb dupe
From AP, with thanks to Jean-Luc:
ISRAELI troops yesterday arrested a boy, 12, who didn’t know he had a bomb in his schoolbag.
Security officials said the boy, who worked as a porter helping to carry the belongings of Palestinians forbidden to drive through a Nablus checkpoint, was hired to carry baggage by militants linked to Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement.
But he did not know the contents of the backpack.
The commander of the army unit that caught the boy said soldiers’ suspicions were aroused by the weight of the school bag. When they examined it, they found a bomb, laced with nuts and bolts to increase its killing power.
“It was a pretty serious bomb, between 7kg and 10kg,” the officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Guy, said. “It was ready for detonation, apparently with a mobile phone.”
Officials said the militants planned to explode it as the boy passed through the checkpoint, but it failed because of a technical fault. The explosion would have killed the boy and nearby soldiers.
Security sources said the boy was freed after several hours’ questioning.
Israeli security officials said the army had received intelligence warnings of an attempt to mount an attack from Nablus.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon yesterday ruled out peace talks with Palestinians and began considering ways to retaliate for a weekend double suicide bombing that killed 10 Israelis.
“Israel will have to act according to its own understanding alone,” he said, referring to his proposal for a unilateral withdrawal from most or all of Gaza, removal of Jewish settlements, and a realignment in the West Bank that would include evacuating some settlements and imposing a border.

Is there a female specific term for it? Sorry, I’m not up on my inter-gender terminology. I live in Kansas so I am exempt.
Palestinians embrace suicide cult
Apr 29 2002
The Associated Press
Jenin Refugee Camp, West Bank ? Mohammed Badi, 13, says he wants to die young. “Life is not good here. I’ll do an operation,” the seventh-grader said in a matter-of-fact tone.
In today’s Palestinian parlance, an “operation” means a suicide bombing or a gun attack that is certain to end with the assailant’s death. In either case, an eternity in paradise is thought to await the bomber and the gunman...
A poster in the Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank glorifies Palestinian suicide bomber Shadi Zakaria. Zakaria killed 15 people and himself in a March 31 suicide attack in Haifa. Suicide bombings have grown so much in appeal and popularity among Palestinians that a cult has evolved around them...
his words illustrate how the appeal of suicide attacks, once the domain of militant Muslim groups, is striking roots throughout Palestinian society and giving rise to a cult complete with rituals.
Secular Palestinians have blown themselves up in the nearly 60 attacks in 19 months. So have women. So have teen-agers.
After each attack, candy is distributed in the streets, and women often greet the news with joyous shrieks. Attackers videotape their final words against a backdrop of assault rifles and banners with Quranic verses. Posters of the bombers and gunmen in Rambo-like poses are plastered on walls.
Palestinians say the bombings are a legitimate weapon in fighting for their independent state. Israel says they’re intolerable acts of terror and hunted down militants in the West Bank this month in its largest military operation in 20 years. At least 20 of the suicide attackers since September 2000 have come from the Jenin area, including the Jenin camp, a militant stronghold. The shantytown of 14,000 was the scene of the deadliest battle during Israel’s three-week military offensive.
70 percent approval
Opinion polls indicate that more than 70 percent of Palestinians support suicide attacks, and experts say the high regard in which the “martyrs” are held in society is shaping the next generation.

Is violence Palestinian "disease"?-Hamas official
17 Oct 2006

By Nidal al-Mughrabi
GAZA, Oct 17 (Reuters) - A senior figure in Hamas, the Islamist group that heads the Palestinian government, published an article on Tuesday condemning internal violence and questioning whether it had become a "Palestinian disease".
Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas who also acts as the spokesman for the Hamas-led government, said he was disturbed by growing factionalism in the Palestinian territories, including recent deadly clashes between rival political movements.
"Has violence become a culture implanted in our bodies and our flesh?" he asked in the sharply worded article, published in the widely read Palestinian newspaper al-Ayyam.
"We have surrendered to it until it has become the master and is obeyed everywhere -- in the house, the neighbourhood, the family, the clan, the faction and the university."
It was the second time in recent months that Hamad, who is based in Gaza, had written an opinion piece in al-Ayyam critical of Palestinian in-fighting.
In August, he criticised Palestinian militant groups fighting Israel, saying they were not doing the cause of Palestinian independence any good by launching attacks at moments when it appeared progress was being made.
Dealing in Death
The West is weak because it respects life? Too bad.
By Steven Stalinsky May 24, 2004
... Leading Muslim clerics often refer to the love of death. Chief Palestinian Authority cleric Mufti Sheikh Ikrimeh Sabri stated, "We tell them, in as much as you love life, the Muslim loves death and martyrdom. There is a great difference between he who loves the hereafter and he who loves this world. The Muslim loves death and [strives for] martyrdom." Saudi Sheikh Abd Al-Muhsin Al-Qassem in Al-Madina added: "The Jews preached permissiveness and corruption, as they hid behind false slogans like freedom and equality, humanism and brotherhood... They are cowards in battle... they flee from death and fear fighting... They love life."
Former head of the Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee Sheikh Atiyyah Saqr was asked the following question in an online chat room on March 22, 2004: "What, according to the Koran, are the Jews' main characteristics and qualities?" He explained one of their worst traits: "Cowardice and love for this worldly life are undisputable traits [of the Jews]." Hezbollah's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah revealed in an interview after the recent prisoner swap between Israel and his group: "We have discovered how to hit the Jews where they are the most vulnerable. The Jews love life, so that is what we shall take away from them. We are going to win, because they love life and we love death."
Soldier of Fortune, Volume 27, Omega Group, Limited, 2002. p. 9.
Amid mostly infants in their strollers, children and their grandparents he detonated himself, wounding 13 children. He killed grandmother Ruth and her 18- month-old granddaughter, Sinai.
This is the real face of Palestinian terrorism's father figure, Yasser Arafat and his evil minions..
There is also a confusion if a female suicide bomber “gets” 72 male virgins as her counterpart is “promised” by radicals via Quranic teaching...
IMHO.
