Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who is running for governor of New York, was attacked Thursday night during a campaign speech in Perinton, New York. A man climbed onto the stage and got right next to him with what the police are calling a “sharp object.” As we reported last night, there are pictures of the man being arrested and what looks like a pair of brass knuckles.
Zeldin had been giving a speech about the dangers of the screwed-up bail reform system Democrats were responsible for in New York which leaves people unsafe. Zeldin blocked the assailant’s first move and then AMVETS National Director Joe Chenelly came and grabbed him.

“His right hand came up, I assume out of his pocket, and he had a blade on his hand,” Chenelly told Fox News Digital. “His fingers were like two finger holes in the blade and lunged at the congressman. And Congressman Zeldin blocked the first lunge. And then as he tried to lunge again, I grabbed him from behind and tackled him down to the ground and held him on the ground.”
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.
Zeldin predicted the man would be released.

Law enforcement was on the scene within minutes.

“His words as he tried to stab me a few hours ago were ‘you’re done’, but several attendees, including @EspositoforNY, quickly jumped into action & tackled the guy,” Zeldin tweeted early Friday. “Law enforcement was on the scene within minutes. The attacker will likely be instantly released under NY’s laws.”
Zeldin thanked people for their concern in a formal statement.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out following tonight’s attack in Fairport. Someone tried to stab me on stage during this evening’s rally, but fortunately, I was able to grab his wrist and stop him for a few moments until others tackled him. I’m ok, and @EspositoforNY, and all other attendees are safe. The attacker is in custody. Grateful for the attendees who stepped up quickly to assist and the law enforcement officers who quickly responded. I’m as resolute as ever to do my part to make NY safe again.”
Zeldin’s prediction came true. After making an alleged attack on a major political candidate, with an accompanying threat, the man, David Jakubonis, 43, was charged with attempted assault in the second degree and then immediately released, within hours of his arrest, without bail.
The release is the perfect example of what Zeldin was talking about with the problems of bail reform in New York — the perfect reason people should elect him and turn Democrats out of office. Who would think just immediately releasing this guy was a good idea? But that’s what’s happening in so many cases in New York, as well as other Democratic-run places that have crazy bail laws, not to mention progressive district attorneys. It endangers everyone but Democrats are more concerned about letting everyone out than they are concerned about the safety of Americans.
Decriminalize crime and criminalize self-defense.

Yep, this would be assassin is released without bail, while a bodega worker named Jose Alba was jailed in notorious Rikers Island with bail set at $250,000 for defending himself from a thug with multiple criminal records. This is New York.
“You’re done” are not words used by someone who is only “attempting assault”. The charges are weak.
I thought Democrats would have been smart enough to at least hold this guy to prove the point wrong. But nope they are complete and absolute idiots

David Jakubonis has that “union goon” look to him.
Be a shame if he received some vigilante justice, wouldn’t it? With a name like “Jakubonis” he can’t be that hard to find.

That’s what Lee Zeldin intends to do. In fact, he promised to fire Kathy Hochul’s New York County District Attorney, Alivn Bragg ( who has jurisdiction in New York City ) on his first day in office.
It remains to be seen whether NY State has hope or a lost cause. The problem in this state is NEW YORK CITY overwhelms the votes of the other more conservative counties.
But with crime on the rise in the city, a law and order message from Zeldin could work. He needs an add with this attack as part of it and Hochuls incitement of deranged people to attend his rallies and the NO bail.
The democrats don't care what we think or believe. They know there's nothing we're going to do about it. So, they do anything, or say anything they believe will keep the money coming in from the likes of Soros and his pals...
I don’t think that Jakubonis acted alone and that the attack was not coordinated and planned far in advance as all of his social media posts had to have been scrubbed prior to the attempt on Rep. Zeldin’s life.
We need to find our who Jakubonis was working with and what organizations were able to so quickly provided Jakubonis with such anonymity.
They should have beat the crap out of that crazed libtard zombie assailant 🤪
Some leftys are saying that the attack was a ‘false flag’ incident set up by either Zeldin or by local R party operatives in order to bolster Zeldin’s street cred. That would explain why the perp is free today.
It will make for a good campaign ad.
