Beautiful and smart Sarah Palin advances in the Alaska primary to next round!
NBC News reports:
[Three well-known candidates lead by former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin have advanced to the general election in Alaska’s special House race, NBC News projects.
Republican Nick Begich, the grandson of former Rep. Nick Begich, D-Alaska, and nonpartisan Al Gross, a surgeon, have also advanced to the general election, according to NBC News’ projection.
In August, Alaska voters will rank four candidates to determine who secures the House seat for the final months of the late Rep. Don Young’s term. Young held the seat for decades and died in March.
This is the state’s first use of open primaries and ranked-choice voting, a system that was implemented after a ballot measure in 2020.]
Here’s how the new voting system works: Alaskans cast ballots for single candidates in an open, nonpartisan primary race. The top four vote-getters advance to the general election, in which voters rank four candidates in order of preference. Any candidate who gets more than 50 percent of the vote wins the race. If no one gets a majority, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated, and ballots cast for the eliminated candidate are recast for voters’ second choices. The elimination and retabulation process continues until only two candidates are left. The candidate with the most votes wins.

It's changed, and hardened. Tough for me to endure, though I respect her and worked incredible hard to help her in 2008. She must have been amazing as a young woman.

i like this type system far better than the open or closed party based primary system if your going to do nominations by election instead of convention.
the worst election nomination system is an open party primary, like GA.

There will be fewer RINOs in Congress this November thanks to Donald Trump. Speaker Palin is thus a possibility.
Ms. Palin being in Congress will be enough.

That “weighted preference” ranking of the vote is still a rather mysterious mumbo-jumbo, much like the “multi-member districts” once in use in electing the Illinois legislature a number of years ago. So far as I know, that experiment was rather quickly abandoned, as it could not produce the needed majorities of Democrats.
Illinois once used the cumulative form of multi-member district voting, defined as: Voters may use their votes however they wish, such as splitting their votes between multiple candidates or using all of them on a single candidate. Illinois ended the practice in 1982.
Recent photos of Sarah (whom I adore) show me she could very much use a touch of lipstick and someone who actually knows how to cut hair.
Other than that minor critique, I look for her to win easily and add to our coming majority in the House......and do us proud!

Dead wrong POTUS DJT as Speaker of the House. This is a trial run for her to run for the US Senate to kill Murkowski. Then after being elected with a track record she becomes Alaska’s Sen and Republican Whip of the Senate. Hows that in 2024 DJT runs for POTUS with De Santis as AG Sarah as DJTs Vice Pres a good kick in the ass to the GOP...
