Over the past four years, I've been recording vehicles taking the I-5 Union street freeway exit too fast. This is just a quick compilation of the crashes that I've recorded.

That was fun to watch. I’d like to open up a bump shop nearby.

Paddle shifters in Seattle are a gamble with your property or you. By decreasing speed on a freeway exit without brake lights they don’t know you are slowing and they will nail you in the keyster. People up here are in way too much of a hurry and don’t think at speed, just react to what they have. And if they don’t have it far enough in advance, there’s contact. Driving Seattle is always an adventure whether I-5 or 99, the alternate way to get into the Seattle downtown area from the south.

There’s a big sign right at the exit, if you watch the second vid linked up there. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that whippersnappers in particular don’t take those reduce speed on curves signs too seriously. :^)
Seattle, not San Franswishco.
This 11 ft 8 one has been raised (or the road was lowered, ditto on your remarks) 8 inches, but it still catches the nonchalant drivers. My faves of these vids are the people who lose part of their vehicles then just drive on.
Learning to do a rev-matched downshift is cheaper than replacing brakes OR a clutch.
More than 100 vehicles have crashed into the bridge in recent years, including a semi striking the Glenville bridge in January, just 17 days into the new year. “It’s shocking that we suffer another bridge strike; one of the worst I’ve seen,” Glenville Supervisor Chris Koetzle said Wednesday afternoon.Apr 13, 2022
Looks like southbound, close to Taco Del Mar. Only about 250 feet long for the off ramp.
Yeah, I’ve seen that video. That poor tree on the left side of the street, it must be terrified;.
Just wait till you have to replace the friction surfaces in your tranny. VERY expensive and nowhere near as easy to replace as your service brakes.
Same here.
Love negative torque.
More control as I slow.
My car, which you saw last year, went 231,000 miles before I needed to change brakes to most miles being highway and the use of manual shifting....
Comes in handy over highways 17 and 9 and the Hecker Pass...
:^) A big screen with those crashes on a loop might help sell the “reduce speed” idea.
Yeah, I think one of the YT vids by this same guy says southbound.
That ramp calls for rumble strips, if not outright speed humps.
At least!
The sound effects from that bridge are amazing.
There was a low overpass in San Mateo, California that the local truck rental companies were adamant about their customers avoiding. I forget the name of the street. One of them had a whole bulletin board of pictures of wrecked trucks.
