Linux Mint Log in Challenge
Self ^ | May 28, 2022 | Self

Posted on 05/28/2022 7:22:24 PM PDT by foundedonpurpose

Am needing some thoughts from my fellow brothers or sisters that are computer savvy. Am running a HP envoy laptop. OS is Linux Mint. It has some how put me in guest mode... Never seen this happen and I can't seem to get back to standard mode. Any tips are greatly appreciated as I am not overly computer literate.

Thank you in advance!

Try logging out. Not shutting down, just log out. You should be given a choice of accounts to log back into.

CTRL+ALT+Delete should give you a pop-up with Switch User/Cancel/Log Out.

Try the first or third button.

Can you not set the run level at boot?

So I guess I don’t need to ask if you’re logged in?

Never had a Linux Mint Log. How does it compare with a Stuckey's Pecan Log?

Rule #1 - You are almost certainty not to be the first human on planet earth to have had this problem.

Rule #2 - See Rule #1

If you are following Rule #1 - then you should know that search is your friend. Search for “linux mint guest mode”.

I’m logged in with the same password that I have had since I purchased the unit.

“and he could be a guest user attempting to exceed his login priviledges”

Nope. One user since purchase, that would be me. All documents, contracts and work orders belong to my company/self, as well as photos, ect.

I know. “Are you logged in?” is one of those standard FR posts like the ones involving moose, cheese, sisters, pancake bunnies, the “Aw geez, not this shit again” guy and so on. Since you actually WERE having login issues it was mandatory.

Did you get this figured out? Did you try pulling up your Grub menu at power up and use the advanced recovery options to repair broken packages and repair the Grub/boot?

Sometimes this restores small issues like this back to default state.

Sort of, am still working on it. I think it’s done, just not holding my breath yet. Thank you so much!
