After it was revealed on Thursday that not only did police delay their response to sending tactical teams into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Tex. amid a school shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead but prevented parents from entering, the Wall Street Journal reported that one mother sprinted into the school to get her children, over objections from law enforcement.
Angeli Rose Gomez drove 40 miles to the school upon hearing of the shooting, and she arrived, said "The police were doing nothing. They were just standing outside the fence. They weren't going in there or running anywhere."

The kids were being brutally murdered. I know all about LE protocol and rest of their bull sh*t, but in events like this, if they planned on saving kids, time, every minute is critical Every minute they waited potentially means more dead.
Sometime there might be collateral damage, but standing around for 45 minutes to an hour waiting for a truck full of swat guys guys to show up, makes me recoil in disgust.
Btw, if I recall, it's generally believed a shotgun is the best home defense weapon.
One more thing, the cops had no idea if after shooting the kids he was going to then systematically kill those still alive. Time is critical.

The timeline may give reason for concern but there’s nothing wrong with police restraining a woman from running into an active shooter situation.

[No license required. The good stuff isn’t cheap, but you just have to have a credit card. A level IIIA vest (handguns and shotgun protection) is anywhere from ~$700 and up. Rifle plates from $150 to $350 each for front and back depending on technology.

But as to best home defense or choice of weapon for this circumstance, a rifle over the shotgun, for both accuracy of shot placement and muzzle velocity (damage mechanism).
One more thing, many departments and agencies do not have an AR in every vehicle. Sometimes the shotgun is the go to.
Questionable statement, but what did you observe when you were there?
Of course but common sense says the LEOs without tactical gear wrangle the parents and the ones with tactical gear go inside the school to take out the shooter or at least keep him pinned down so he can’t roam and kill more. That one mother who made it inside and got her kids out, traveled 40 miles after hearing about it on the news. LEOs should have already been inside before that.
One reads the stories of the tough cops in urban areas in the 1970s who'd have a revolver, a backup piece, and maybe a confiscated switchblade, going into tenements and dark alleyways after dangerous, hard-nosed criminals and then see the current day tacti-clowns who won't move on a psychopath shooting children.
The cops didn't move in on Columbine and at the Broward County school shooting, it was the county officers who went in, many of them female, despite having the Broward Cowards try to stop them.
