The 22,000-runner race — from the Brooklyn Museum through Prospect Park to the Coney Island boardwalk — was held on an unseasonably hot and humid day. The temperature at 9 a.m. at Coney Island was already 70 degrees with 83% humidity, according to Fox Weather.

The event was held in person for the first time since the pandemic started. Saturday’s death marked the first fatality in the race since 2014, when a 31-year-old runner fell to the ground after crossing the finish line.

The Brooklyn Half organizers did not require that the runners wear masks.

Mighty darn considerate of them. The fact that sentence was included in this write up tells me just how sick our society is. It implies that forced masking was at least given consideration. A long distance run? Nuts to even discuss it.

And the "vax"? Why would anyone need it in an outdoor event? Even making the erroneous assumption that the jab provided protection (PS there is no pandemic now). Were the runners required to have any other vaccinations??? What about measles? Surely there were women around of child bearing age. Logic is extinct.
