Ukraine: Down the slippery slope we go
American Thinker.com ^ | May 14, 2022 | James Poplar

What began as a fairly straightforward U.S. policy of arming the Ukrainians with defensive weapons against Russian aggression has now expanded into a dangerous and rapid escalation.

We now have embarked on the inevitable slippery slope of mission creep and where we will end up will probably not be where we had intended.

If history has taught us anything, it is that before engaging in an armed conflict, we must have a clearly defined end state and the strategy (the ends, way, and means) of achieving it. Right now, we have neither.

The New York Times on Wednesday published an op-ed by war correspondent Tom Stevenson titled "The U.S. and Its Allies Want to Bleed Russia. They Really Shouldn't," arguing what many have been arguing for a while now: the Biden administration is openly — and recklessly — pursuing a policy of escalation in Ukraine that represents a new and very dangerous phase in the conflict.

Stevenson, a journalist who reported from Ukraine in the opening weeks of the war, states that initially, the United States and its North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies responded to Russia's invasion of Ukraine rather straightforwardly, with supplies of defensive arms and humanitarian supplies to the Ukrainians and economic sanctions on Russia. But things have changed dramatically and rapidly over the past month.

When politics has become so hotly partisan (working for the party rather than the country) and the party of the president is in control, it’s hard to get rid of an incompetent president leading us to suicide.

BTW, the body handling as described in the apocalyptic chapters in the bible is eerily like how you would handle bodies in nuclear war...

.
I say we’ll find out years from now that Zelensky was selected and put in
Power by a Western Power, and from day one it was about funneling big money to defense corporations and Ukraine.

Remember, Joe Biden is on record saying the only way out of a recession is to spend a Trillion dollars. He said, you heard that right, you to spend your way out of bankruptcy.

So, I’m sure they told themselves that all the monies to their select businessmen and willing partners would ignite the economy and it was a way of keeping most people happy. However, Biden doesn’t know the first thing about Economics and, in fact, speaking on the Campaign trail slowed they he doesn’t even know how minimum wage jobs work. He said that if you work at McDonald’s, you are prohibited from taking a 50 cents more per hour at Burger King. He said, they make you sign these contracts. Oh, yes, he did. He is beyond clueless.

.

Just to add: these Ukraine bills contain other Domestic Dem goodies. It’s opened up the Spending Spigot after Manchin and Sinema stopped signing on to Spending bills.

The fighting will go on until the Democrats are sure that all the evidence of their dirty dealings in Ukraine have been destroyed.

Exactly, this is senile Joe’s war, with western fake MSM backing him fully.
I am disgusted by the support for war, war war.
Fake News just sucked in everyone- again.

It amazes me that many in the US seem to think that Russia would never resort to nukes. They are making a grave miscalculation here.

Despite the crashing poll numbers the rats have not changed direction or even moderated. That’s damn scary. They will do anything besides give up their agenda to save themselves even if means dragging us into a world war

Years away? Many of us already know this.

The advance to full-out war goes in stages. Don’t let yourself be comforted by the slow pace.

We are being led by ideological, unstable fools. The sanctions have barely dented the intended victim and are crashing the economies of the west. The sad part is they treat us like fools and expect us to believe their lies and massive propaganda.

Even more sad is that we are being led over a cliff and are the ones who will suffer from their stupidity.

And what makes you think they will ? Resorting to nukes means nuking themselves. Why would they do that ? Why would a man who goes to extreme lengths to ensure his own survival want to nuke himself and his own country ?

I think if it came down to it they would start with a tactical nuke with a comparably lower yield as a warning to the West that they are serious and not playing. Where things go from there depends on how the idiots in the Biden administration respond. Do you think we are going to risk an all out nuclear exchange over an insignificant country like Ukraine? I would certainly hope not and I’m sure the vast majority of Americans would agree on that point.

We are giving 40 billion dollars to Ukraine.

40 billion dollars…….

That number seems familiar…..

How much money did Hillary Clinton “lose” when she was Secretary of State?

40 billion dollars?

The rats are intoxicated by having both houses and the Presidency. They have dreamed of this. If they think they can keep their power by getting us into a war with Russia they will do it.

“they would start with a tactical nuke with a comparably lower yield as a warning to the West that they are serious and not playing”

Yes. In fact, I expect it. Probably over the Black Sea, just to demonstrate. And no, we will not respond with nukes. But the idiots in charge will then escalate. Doubling down is all they know. Expect blustering senators to call for War with Russia when it happens.

But the west will go with massive cyber, and such. Perhaps “deniable” biological incidents will happen just over Russia’s border. Then Russia will declare war on Ukraine, and the real slaughter starts.

The US is tickling the dragon’s tail. Don’t be shocked when the dragon truly responds.

But the chest thumping idiots, “We’re the US and will crush Russia” won’t change. They are unable to realize how the US is responsible for provoking this entire catastrophe.

But we are.

This isn’t just my opinion. I read and follow people truly in the know, with cooler heads and tremendous experience and knowledge of the history and reality of the region.

But no matter. The brilliant “Putin Puffer!” dopes will be along shortly, to call us all “Poopy-Pants!”

Yeah I’m sure the ‘rats have something in store for us this fall, whether it will be another lockdown due to a new variant to allow mail in voting or perhaps they will engineer another crisis of some sort. I would put nothing past them. They know they are hopelessly way down in the polls but seem surprisingly sanguine about that fact. That tells me they have something up their sleeve.

The question is-what do we do if say, Putin used a tactical nuke to take out an army in Donbass? Would we launch a full scale attack on Russia? Would Europe want to see this? I don’t think so. What if he vaporized Kiev? Want a Nuke exchange to take out all in Russia and risk a counter strike by Russia? Who wins then? Only China.
