Russia will halt power supply to Finland on Saturday due to lack of payment.
According to Reuters, Russian utility Inter RAO will suspend the power supply to Finland due to non-payment since May 6.
The Finnish grid company said it can replace Russian electricity supply by importing more electricity from Sweden.
Sweden and Finland are both looking to join NATO.

Ah, Donna Reed. A librarian in “It’s a Wonderful Life” to a hooker in “From Here to Eternity.”
True. And I saw a story today (if true) of a Russian soldier telling his commanding officer that he refused to deploy. Back in the old days he would have been vaporized on the spot unless they kept him alive to make him suffer.
Lots of difference making the world very unpredictable these days.
I'm favoring US trade paperbacks these days for my fiction.
“Youth is wasted on the young”
Your flaccid and impotent insult does nothing to change the fact that after the war is over Russia’s energy customers will have moved on to new suppliers, penned new long term contracts, and it will be a generation or two before anyone is stupid enough to do business with Russian gangsters again.
“A friend of mine worked in Russia with Russians for a few years. The phrase he used to describe the men over there was “highly dysfunctional”.”
I think that is an apt description.
The term I often use to describe Russians is that they are fatalists.
How the hell are the dogs gonna get on the garage roofs to sun themselves?
Time for me to go out and buy a new suit!
If I's gonna be impotent, I should LOOK impotent!
“Hard copy is the only way.”
I generally buy hardbacks; but if there is a paperback worth having I’d pick it up.
In the last 10 days the Ukriane claimed responsibility, but Russia clearly was the nation who cut off Germany, and now Finland. The information war has been BS.
“Youth is wasted on the young””
I’ve been saying that for twenty years (I’m in my 70s).
I reserve hard cover purchase for my collection books and most military history stuff.
“Hey Sparky, the revenue stream is already gone if they won’t pay for the electricity or gas.”
Funny how invading Ukraine had such unexpected consequences, isn’t it?
Pidor Putin was counting on foreign energy revenues to fund the war of conquest and not only did those revenue streams dry up the West effectively seized or rendered inaccessible some $1.5 trillion in foreign accounts and foreign assets.
The West will adapt and overcome the energy issue.
How will Pidor Putin overcome the funding issue? By printing more rubles that are going to float on the international market as of June 6th?
By the end of June Putin may not have solved Russia’s funding problem but the CBRF will have solved Russia’s toilet paper supply issues.
Be careful though, the green ink on the ruble is copper based and it can cause your anus to chafe and peel.
Absolutely they are fatalists.
Their outlook on life s bleak and dark. A very negative people.
Okay, that made me laugh!

“Trade paperbacks are the 6x9 ones with a slightly heavier cover than the mass market 4x7.”
I know what they are. I have a bunch on carpentry, timber framing, woodworking, and carving. I’ve done wood work for years, and at one time I did renovations and restorations (until I got married, then I had to get a real job with benefits). I have a bunch on drawing, as well (I’ve been drawing since I was a kid; primarily graphite and charcoal; I sometimes exhibit at a local art league, and have sold a few pieces).
But, as for books, I subscribe to the adage: “So many books; so little time.”
Good question.
It’s all good until October 1 when the country turns the heating units back on.
The Fins better get ready to heat up those wood burning saunas......
Last time I checked a year ago a wholesale price of electricity in Sweden was 0,21 Euro vs 0,02 Euro from Russia.
I guess the difference is even more staggering now.
In Baltic states they pulled this trick with the Russian electricity by dropping the IPS/UPS grid. The consequences are utility bills in Latvia approaching 40% of the average household income.
