Elon Musk Puts Twitter Deal ‘On Hold,’ Stock Plummets 15% in Pre-Market Trading

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reportedly placed his $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter on hold pending an investigation into bot accounts on the platform. The stock has plummeted more than 15 percent in pre-market following Musk’s announcement released on his Twitter account. In a follow up post, Musk added that he is “still committed to the acquisition.”

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that his deal to purchase Twitter is currently “on hold” while an investigation into the number of bots and spam accounts on Twitter is completed. Twitter claimed in a recent filing that less than five percent of its daily active users were fake or spam accounts, now Musk appears to want to confirm this claim, which is lower than most estimates.

“Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users,” Musk said in a tweet.

Be something if his real plan was not to buy Twitter but just to shake it up?

Twitter is committing fraud. That’s what we’re about to find out. Now let’s see if anything is actually done about it.

Nah.. he’s still buying it... just haggling. I wonder just how easy it will be to eliminate all those bot accounts though. That is a big issue for him.

Elon Musk would have known how Jon Voight spells his name, too.

Now we know why Dorsey bailed when he did.

Yep.

Even if the number of bots is 4%, how did they get there?

Perhaps a bot that takes out bots?

“Be something if his real plan was not to buy Twitter but just to shake it up?”

Musk is accomplishing what the federal government would never do, investigating Twitter’s inner-workings.

If the bots are at all over 5% than Twitter has committed fraud. The stock will then tank, Musk can demand termination of most all senior management and will buy Twitter at a significant discount.

That’s one aspect of having Fu@& You money that I love and envy.

Doesn’t matter if it’s 1%. If Twitter failed to disclose this very material fact they’re in some deep, deep, doo doo.

At least they would be of the SEC and the DOJ weren’t wholly owned subsidiaries of the Democrat party.

These are the accounts used to attack people so that companies think there are millions of people opposed to you stuff. When in fact nobody cares. Rush uncovered this mechanism when they went after him.

I have been saying this from the beginning because he is a master troll.

But I do think he wants his hands on user data for some unknown reason.

Twitter terms of service have already been changed effective in June.

The CEO has already shaken things up by firing some bigwigs.

This deal is not going to do down as agreed. Major revision coming.

Base fact: Twitter acknowledges PUBLICLY that ‘bots’ exist on their site but are less than 5%.

Question 1: What percentage of the TRAFFIC on Twitter is generated by said ‘bots’?
Question 2: What revenue is based upon Q1?
Question 3: If that base ‘bot%’ is significantly low, at what point would this constitute a requirement (per SEC regs) for a corporate restatement?
Question 4: What efforts has Twitter Management undertaken to eliminate these phantom accounts?
Question 5: What criteria was used upon said accounts - was there any preference given to any segment?

I could go on but lawyers are like sharks, they are drawn to blood in the water. Why do I think that Mr Musk is chumming?
