Elon Musk and the Transhuman Wing of Conservative, Inc
Singularity Weekly ^ | 4/15/22 | Joe Allen

Posted on 04/23/2022 5:30:36 AM PDT by Pollard

If you take this guy seriously, you’re living in a simulation

Elon Musk holds out the promise of restoring “free speech” to Twitter. Yesterday the Tesla CEO offered $43 billion dollars to buy the social media platform outright. Conservatives are intoxicated by the idea. If by some miracle the shareholders take the offer, Musk promises to relax speech-policing and make the algorithms open source.

Presumably, he’ll continue shitposting from his toilet.

If we take Musk at his word, his intention is to open real debate and save our democracy. Then again, he also told us “China rocks,” robot slaves will replace every worker, universal basic income will soon be necessary, all vehicles will be autonomous, AI will achieve a god-like status, brain implants will connect us to that god, and ultimately, there’s a billion-to-one chance our universe is just a computer simulation.

A cynical listener might suspect this cyborg car-dealer is taking the public for a ride.

Even so, in the case of Twitter, the excitement is understandable. Starting with the Great Meme War that led up to Trump’s 2016 election, the platform laid waste to the funniest dudes on Frog Twitter—from Ricky Vaughn to Kantbot2000—and eventually, the cyber-Stasi banned the sitting President of the United States.

My thoughts have led to some “FR vacations”. They were true, but not nice words. That said, it’s a private site and that’s how it goes.

It’s an interesting concept I have thought about a lot.

The “isms” are fundamentally slavery. And the slaves are necessarily people, the unlucky dummies that get conned into it.

So what happens if machines are the slaves? Labor is virtually free, assuming there are resources for the machines.

Something bad undoubtedly but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Lots of Musk fanboys here, but this writer is simply stating what Musk is saying and doing in his own words. Conservatives are easily enamored of those who are fighting the Left, which is understandable, but this is about so much more than that—it is our very FUTURE being decided.

Robots taking away all the jobs? Don’t we remember that God commanded that we work by the sweat of our brow? Or is that too quaint in today’s brave new world?

Rocket ships to other planets to escape the Hell we’ve created?

Kissing the ass of China and ignoring their horrible human rights record, so he can produce electric cars in their country?

Thinks maybe we’re living in a computer simulation?

Creating a series of low-flying satellites which will help ensure surveillance on every inch of our planet?

Chips implanted in our brains, for God’s sake!!!

Hello, are their any rational conservatives left on this planet? Isn’t this “Free Republic”? In Musk’s world, freedom as you know it will cease to exist!

But hey—he’ll help us from getting banned on Twitter, so it’s all worth it, right?

“returns to the landing zone like a Jonny Quest show?”

That is truly an engineering marvel. I remember watching old Twilight Zone’s and thinking it ridiculous.

"I’ve read that the thing that will save China’s economy is if people start buying boatloads of Chinese manufactured electric cars"

If people really do "start buying boatloads of electric cars", the US will run out of electricity long before China's economy is saved.

Anything that Musk , Trump and DeSantis can do to wind these utopian fascists up is good as far as I am concerned.

Denish DeSouzas new mpovie about the stolen 2020 election has the left wound up like soon-to-explode koo koo clocks.

Now the battle is joined in various media as the Patriot mpvement strikes back prior to the Mid Terms. DeSantis revoked Disney Corp’s COunty Status in Florida by Legslative act, and the Dems went turd-casting ballistic.

I love it, Let the battles begin!

Pelosi and her crowd are rocking back on their heels now, with more solid punches incoming!

Musk is our Hank Rearden. “Transhumanist” is an insult- I haven’t seen evidence that he follows that ideology. I share his confidence that technology, properly applied, can improve the lives of all people.

I take him very seriously, even if he’s mercurial.

If someone is useful for our side, great. But avoid making heroes out of anybody. Otherwise you’re bound for disappointment.

Truer words have never been posted here. But what I like and respect about Musk is that he's one of the few true innovators left in Silicon Valley. He's a man who's not afraid to swing for the fences - that spirit and outlook is what built Silicon Valley back in the day, and it's anathema to everything Silicon Valley is about in 2022.

Idle hands are the devil’s workshop. Musk really doesn’t understand human nature. We need to do things and build things. We need a purpose. Can you imagine the entire population of the planet having nothing to do? Lots of time to think up all kinds of evil that no one has ever imagined before.

Musk is deeply entangled with totalitarian/communist China in his Tesla business.
Am somewhat surprised at how few here seem to find that concerning.

Section 230 was conceived in response to two court cases in the 1990s that dealt with the liability of internet companies for defamatory posts on their websites. In one case, a federal court in New York ruled that the company CompuServe was not liable because it was merely a host and did not moderate any of the content on its forums. A New York state court ruled in a separate case that the company Prodigy could be held legally responsible because it policed some posts.

The second case sounds a lot like twitter because they certainly do "police some posts"

Musk is deeply entangled with totalitarian/communist China in his Tesla business.

Tell me.....just how many iPhones are actually made in America....versus iPhones made in China.
And how long has GM been making cars in China? (It was long before Tesla was even founded).

Am somewhat surprised at how few here seem to find that concerning.

Because it's not an issue and its irrelevant. Almost all big US companies have operations in China.
