By a 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court sides against a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve who refuses to get the COVID vaccine on religious grounds. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent.https://t.co/Ke2pQtCT3f pic.twitter.com/WXirK9Qt07

The Supreme Court Monday denied an Air Force Reserve officer’s request for a preliminary injunction shielding him from punishment for refusing to follow the military’s Covid Vaccine mandate.
The justices said the Pentagon need not accommodate Lt. Col. Jonathan Dunn, who said he had a religious objection to the coronavirus vaccine. Elizabeth B. Prelogar, the U.S. solicitor general, wrote in response to Dunn’s application that “the Air Force has a compelling interest in requiring applicant to be as medically and physically prepared for deployment with his reserve unit as possible, particularly because his unit is designed to be deployable worldwide with just 72 hours’ notice.”
I can understand the general rationale, but the problem is the assumption that the “vaccine” would actually be beneficial. From everything we know now, it seems clear that the risks outweigh any possibly benefits by a mile.
what bull shit.
So much for religious liberty...
I wish this would have come down different, but the military is a unique case where lots of ‘rights’ are voluntarily given up by servicemen. The problem I have with this is when its a question of religion, that freedom goes so deep to the core of our nations founding and values that it should be weighed heavily and carefully. This will ultimately only hurt our military and readiness.
They are weeding out individual thinkers. The military will be comprised of the compliant. Makes it very easy to give the military tasks that could be considered objectionable, and have a high degree of confidence those tasks will be handled.
The risk in my own case has been zero so far.
First jab was 14 months ago, 3 more jabs since.
None, zero, nada, adverse effects so far.
But I agree with you that effectiveness in preventing serious infection/death are not conclusive.
On the positive side, full vaccination document has enabled me to enjoy 5 cruises since September 2021.
I remember when she was being confirmed the usual suspects gushed over what a great conservative she is. I'm still waiting. And frat boy Brett, well, cut from the same cloth.

Unless you’re LGBTQIZYLALFUYW.
Then you have more rights than anyone else, including the right to bill the U.S. military for “gender reassignemnt” surgery and the vastly expensive attending drug regimen.
“6–3 vote”
I’m confidant that we know who the bad actors are here.
But I alsothink it would be much worse to let judges start making assignment decisions in the military. It is for that exact same reason that I do not believe judges should have the authority to force the military to accept transgender recruits.
I have never been a fan of using the military as a social experiment.
The SCOTUS order was literally two sentences. No explanation given
I believe it falls under the long-standing, general category of: when you sign up with Uncle Sam, they own your @ss.
No disagreement from me on that. Military readiness is the paramount issue and letting in psychologically unhealthy people of any kind is not good for readiness.
5 cruises are totally worth loss of freedom and personal medical choice.
By the DOD’s new rules on diversity, the jab is racist because it was invented almost entirely by white people.
So this proves that we have a liberal SCOUS. The last two picks for Donald Trump were NOT conservative constitutionalists. Neither was Chief Justice Roberts.
so say 6 judges on the court of zero Justice. one day they will be judged.
I can chop off my dong and make them give me estrogen, but I can’t refuse to get a fake vaccine…
