Following the invasion of Ukraine by neighboring Russia, the ruling class has mobilized all its resources to convince the American People that it is imperative that we are in support of Ukraine and therefore are willing to make sacrifices for them at a scale which they will determine for us (as experts). But why did Russia invade Ukraine? What led to this? Whose fault is it? Is this the beginning of the collapse of Western Civilization? So many questions -- do stay tuned!
Hint: The West broke its promises to Russia.
And of course Russia has never every broken on single
promise.
Who knew?
They want us to save their dirty laundromat 🤪
Ukraine is no champion of democracy or human rights. But nothing that Ukraine did or might have done could justify Russia’s actions.
Me, I’m not interested in saving Elite GloboHomoNazis, either.
Uh, right. Another wet behind the ears mama’s boy who calls himself “conservative”.
Si\o shelling/killing thousands of Russian-speaking Ukrainians is OK with you?
True. Too many people are assuming Ukraine is some mindless Soros puppet and excuse Putin's offenses.
Like the abusive husband who beats his wife and then says “Look at what you made me do”. Nothing will change the fact that Russia invaded a neighboring country. Nothing. If you can’t figure out the moral perameters of that you might consider doing some serious soul searching.
Oh look! Squirrel!
That having been said, I still get a very uneasy feeling that whatever really is going on, we aren’t being told the whole story; and this sh*t show will not end well for us, maybe not for the rest of the West.
All we ever said (not a treaty, but policy) was that we would not permanently station out of area forces in former Warsaw Pact members or former parts of the Soviet Union.
Putin broke INF by stationing Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad, violated the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty by building up his army in Western Russia and followed by attacking and seizing territory from Georgia and Ukraine.
Putin is wholly responsible for the current conflict, the big buildup in NATO forces on his western flank and the probable entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO.
Sadly, those in charge have cost the lives of many civilians, as each side points blame.
Agreed. Ukraine has been the global one-stop shop for money laundering.
If you go back 6 months or so, the average America had nothing to say about Ukraine. Didn’t think about it. Didn’t care. Couldn’t find it on the map. It was about as significant to us as Eswatini.
But, today?
Close to 100% of Americans are deeply concerned. Businesses and homes are flying Ukrainian flags, stores won’t sell Russian vodka, Putin is worse than Hitler, and everyone loves and supports the brave, brave Ukrainians.
It’s weird.
What it is, is manipulation.
I don’t support Russia; I don’t support Ukraine. There is no real reason for me to care. War isn’t new. Crossing national boundaries isn’t new (we do it all the time).
I will not be manipulated. Everything that everyone is reporting is a lie. Both sides.
Sure it deserved it. The bribed half of DC. They pushed the Trump as Russian agent scam in 2016 and then forward. They caused the impeachment with their White House spy Vindman. They dammed up the water supply aqueduct to Crimea. They surrounded the culturally Russian areas of Donbass and let literal nazi militias pound them with artillery for 8 years.
In the areas of Donbass the grabbed after the coup, they forbade speaking Russian, they literally extinguished eternal flames at WWII Soviet Army memorials and cemeteries. They strictly limited anyone placing flowers at such sites.
In the midst of that ethnic cleansing, they announced they were going to develop a nuclear weapon. In 2019, Azov simply refused Zelinsky’s pull back order.
They’ve been asking for it.
They get some kind of special bar pass to not get a punch in the face for acting the fool?
We have thousands of invaders coming into our country every day. Are you calling for war with Mexico?
“Putin broke INF by stationing Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad, violated the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty by building up his army in Western Russia and followed by attacking and seizing territory from Georgia and Ukraine.”
I think it was Otto von Bismarck who said, “I don’t trust the Russians because they don’t trust themselves.” Smart guy, that Otto.
So nothing justifies invading another country. Have you told DC that?
