People too young to remember the Nixon era, or who haven't studied it, might assume that the left's seething hostility to Donald Trump is unprecedented. In fact, back in his day, the left's loathing of President Richard Nixon was overwhelming. When he was ultimately driven to resign over Watergate, there was great glee and rejoicing in liberal land.
But, file this one under NewsBusters' "Sudden Respect," rubric. Friday's Morning Joe, playing off a Peggy Noonan column, actually celebrated Richard Nixon! It did so because, in contrast with Donald Trump regarding the 2020 election, Nixon conceded the 1960 presidential election to JFK, despite strong evidence that the results in Illinois and Texas had been stolen on behalf of the Democrat, throwing the election to Kennedy.

Three-point guide to Republicans wanting to win approval from the liberal media:
1. Concede an election to a Democrat.
2. Resign from office.
3. Die.

I guess I’m not surprised by Scarborough’s favorable treatment of Richard Nixon to bash Donald Trump. In Morning Joe’s mind, any club will do to beat Donald Trump with.

Peggy Noonan wastes half of a page in the WSJ every weekend. They really need to dump her.
Oh bleep you people.
Their hatred is liquid, it flows in whichever way suits them politically on that particular day.
Nixon and kissinger got us to be subservient to the Chicoms.
They made jokes about Nixon weeping at Pat’s grave. They are using his memory to make some stupid point that enhances communism or globalism.
Scarborough has always struck me as being extra stupid.
I mean - he seems to struggle to express himself and never makes any sense.
I have known some really stupid people over the course of my life, and Scarborough reminds me of all of them. Just a thick-headedness, where you can see they are just guessing.
One common trait is a tendency to say something and then look around for approval. Another is a tendency to act outraged all the time. He really must have suffered a few blows to the head.
I just can’t fathom how he would have a following - unless his audience is made up of other stupid people.

Nixon’s remarks to White House staff are very moving, IMO:

Nixon wasn’t the most conservative Republican, but he was a great man just the same.
Nixon is just another example of the sort of republican leftists like; he’s dead.
We still have not found out what dirty work democrats
were up to.........that fomented the break-in tragedy.
Republicans that democrats want to praise and say are “good”, allow democrats to steal elections from them.
See look at Nixon. He was a good republican. He let us steal the election from him.
I’ll take a crack at it - according to the book Silent Coup, as well well as the opinions of several posters in the past regarding this matter, the entire adventure was set up by John Dean to prevent the revealing of his wife’s name being on the list of preferred high-price call girls which the Democrat National Committee maintained for visiting dignitaries and party officials. Dean must have had a fantastic memory to keep juggling different stories to various West Wing occupants (including Nixon himself) for as long as he did. And when the entire one-man conspiracy finally collapsed, he stabbed everyone in the back in an attempt to save his own skin. In the Salacious Department, the rumor persisted that Diane Sawyer was also on the “preferred” list along with Dean’s wife…
