And as far as riding sea levels, anyone in the real estate business knows oceanfront properties are more insanely expensive and in higher demand than ever. I'm not aware of the 0bama's in any hurry to unload their oceanfront mansion. Nor do Fredo Cuomo who's palatial estate is steps away from the beach on Fire Island or his liberal friends in the Hamptons seem to be in any hurry to evacuate their oceanfront mansions. More eco propaganda to line the pockets of the directors at the WWF and Sierra Club
I am currently restoring my 67 GTO that I have had for 32 years. I am really looking forward to getting it finished so I can take it out for a fast bout of criminal behavior on erf day.
These are the same people that brought us Prohibition.
Yup! Every Earth Day I take out the Impala, got a 327, no emission controls and a low res dual exhaust so I can pollute the air twice as fast😄😄😄🙂
I don’t drink. The government has taken so many things away I could see supporting banning alcohol. Don’t say it’s been tried because we have better technology. You have random alcohol tests at work. First fail, $500 fine, second fail, 2 weeks in jail, third fail, one year in jail. We might as well have everyone miserable.
Safer cars=dumbass drivers
^This, it all started with anti-lock brakes.
I have a 2002 bright red short box Chevy Pick up that I bought new, I have kept it in good condition. It has a 4.9 liter small block engine with modifies air inlet and 3 inch
Dyna Flow exhaust.
Being a short box,it has a very high horsepower to weight ratio.
It lighgts right up at 20 mph when you put the throttle to the floor and does not leave its 2nd gear until about 60 mph.
Its my most favorite vehicle I have ever had.No green hole is going to be takin’ it away.
I still have my 71 Duster. Kind expensive to drive though.
If we are moving from gas to electric, move from cylinders to cells.
Look forward to showing off your 8-Cells under the hood behemoth.
I think I will keep my current High Performance V8 car,
2016 Cadillac CTS-V
I understand the authors points about the government involvement in the auto industry.
But his nostalgia over 1960s muscle cars is a bit overdone. A Mustang today with a four-cylinder turbo is faster, quicker, cheaper, safer and more efficient than a V8 mustang from 1969.
Also, engineers have turned every econobox into a dragster because even those schlubs who get Corollas want power.
The autonomous vehicle will be the death of ICE, except for those few wealthy souls who can afford to tow their cars to a track and pay the per lap fee.
They're Neo Puritans.
“Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.” — H.L. Mencken
Dammit! You beat me to it.
“I am currently restoring my 67 GTO”
Almost done restoring my 67 Camaro convertible (just a couple weeks left). I’ve told my family members they would be insane to sell it when I’m gone. Infinitely reparable. Good looks. Will be 400 horsies. It isn’t coming back if they sell.
I use stainless steel bolts and grade 8. It could last 1000 years.
Last year I completed a 7 year frame off on my 68 Corvette convertible. It has the original 427 and Muncie 4 speed and no emissions controls. It is such a blast to drive that it should be against the law to have so much fun.
I think the Progressives have twisted things around in a very insidious way.
They promote drugs (”free crack pipes”) and sexual abandon (”transgenders and child molesters are normal”). But the people they “champion” are miserable (they are called “gay” but they are definitely not that). So, we all get more miserable people with ruined lives and high suicide rates — because, you know, Progressives are not stuck up puritanical, moralistic prudes.
And then, once the Progressives are established how much more “tolerant” they are, they are free to go and take away all the fun things in life. And if we don’t like it, because we like Freedom, well, that just proves that we are racist. Or something.
Replacing with stainless wherever possible has been my policy on those old jeeps and blazer.
Someday I guess........
