This is a daily occurrence and it is NOT indicative of an amphibious invasion of Taiwan.

"9 whole planes."

They were going to fly partial planes, but they wouldn't take off.

But yes, this is a daily occurrence, and they have flown squadrons of over 20 before.

The Chinese are simply ‘testing-the-waters,’ so to speak. Russian aircraft are always ‘testing-the-waters’ around Alaska. I’m also sure that our aircraft routinely ‘test-the-waters’ of other countries. The CIA still has SR-71s/YF-12s. But shhhhhhhhhh! ;-)

Most likely you are correct. But, the timing is interesting. Putin launches the Ukraine invasion despite threats of harsh sanctions. (So that I am clear, I do not believe Ukraine is our fight. This is in Europe’s backyard and those countries must step up to protect their own house). Meanwhile, here at home, Biden’s flacks, both in the Administration and the house organ media, spin the invasion as the reason for all of our internal problems such as inflation, upwardly spiraling gas prices and supply chain woes. They claim our sanctions will be effective to check Putin but so far he has ignored them. China is watching as the West flails around and so it decides today is a good day to once again test Taiwan and, more importantly, the Western allies. This could be a coincidence but I don’t believe in them. I think we will see more of this in the next few days or weeks and as the weakness of the West’s response continues China will ratchet up the pressure on Taiwan, maybe going so far as implementing a blockade similar to what Putin has now done to the Ukraine.

Taiwan controls the Pratas Islands, a small atoll about 250 miles southwest of Taiwan itself. It has a very elongated ADIZ to the southwest covering the atoll and surrounding waters. The PLA airplanes are overflying the northern part of the South China Sea in the vicinity of these islands.

Well, let’s hope. China may be hoping for an offsides call on a fourth and short.
