Nasa Scientist Describes Hunt For Alien Megastructures "[it’s] Essentially Any Artificial Structure Built By An Intelligent Civilization Perhaps For Energy Harvesting Purposes."

The truth is out there — or at least that’s what researchers at NASA and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute are hoping.

While much of the SETI Institute’s research involves scanning space for light and radio signals as indicators of extraterrestrial life, it’s also looking for bigger objects — and specifically alien megastructures.

“[It’s] essentially any artificial structure built by an intelligent civilization perhaps for energy harvesting purposes,” Ann Marie Cody, a researcher scientist at NASA Ames and the SETI Institute, told Vice in a fascinating new interview.

The method that Cody and her colleagues employ to try and find these megastructures is actually straightforward — and it’s one scientists have widely used to discover exoplanets and other celestial bodies for decades.

“We look at thousands — even millions — of stars, take image after image, then we translate those images into a sequence of each star’s brightness over time,” Cody explained. Every time an object like a planet passes by that star, it dims and creates a light signature.

There are examples of polygonal masonry around the world which is pretty fascinating to me and many others.
There are also machine tool marks on truly ancient structures and caves that defy mainstream archeology doctrine, also worldwide.
It appears an ancient advanced global civilization existed and was wiped out by massive chunks of a comet around 12,000 years ago, around the time Gobekli Tepi was constructed and then intentionally buried.
Ancient aliens? Maybe, more like humans who were helped by extraterrestrials in the distant past, I don't know - but it's interesting to say the least.

Energy harvesting?? Only UN-intelligent civilizations fail to use nuclear sources for energy.

Oh pfffft. If we could find buildings/energy harvesters that were created by intelligent civilizations— they would have already come to earth and squished humans like a bug.

I have wondered how long advanced civilizations keep durable records for.

And if they did, would we recognize it.

I doubt it very much.

In 20 years almost all knowledge will be in the clouds

If civ is decimated for 1000 years what would future archeologists think? how about if it were 5000 years?

Data retention is hard

It seems odd that an “advanced” civilization would make a Gobekli Tepi and only draw pictures of animals on slabs of rock. Maybe it was done some time post-disaster when the “advanced” aspect had already been wiped out, and they buried it in case whatever it was happened again.

There’s a book named The Story of Adam and Eve in the CIA reading library, which claims the Earth’s axis of rotation shifted (I would speculate it was only temporarily if it happened) due to ice buildup at the poles thousands of years ago and that caused the oceans to wash over the continents. Supposedly only a few illiterate clans at high altitudes survived, therefore it was basically a hard reset for civilization.

And supposedly that wasn’t the first time.

The Altantis tale may plug into this as well.

“Only UN-intelligent civilizations fail to use nuclear sources for energy.”

The max possible power output of all the fissile elements on Earth is pinprick compared to to energy the Sun puts out in a day. For any advanced civilization nuclear fission would have long been replaced.

SETI has been a fraud and a waste of resources from day one.

There are millions of humans on this planet claiming they are talking to ETs of various kinds, while the “scientists” call them kooks and cranks—meanwhile searching the outer reaches of the galaxy looking for ETs.

They are like ants looking for humans on other planets and being unable to find any....
