Aliens won't be building "magastructures" for "energy harvesting". Thanks algore.

Maybe they exhausted their planet’s crust off its sources of fissile material. Of course, they would develop fusion power while exhausting their fissile materials. Maybe they even cracked the code for low energy nuclear reactions.

There is really obscure but great song about ozymandias.

I went 12 pages into search but cannot find it.

It was not this one from iron maiden

I will remember soon maybe.

Why can’t we Earthlings be the most advanced civilization in the cosmos??

Arthur Clarke once commented (brilliantly, I think) that humans are over optimistic in the near term and under optimistic in the long term.

I don’t think a sufficiently advanced culture would have much use for huge amounts of energy. I think the definition of “sufficiently advanced” would eliminate such a need. Any research objectives might well be accomplished with with far more modest amounts of energy.

Just an opinion.

Since the structure is alien, they will not recognize it when they look at it because they are looking for something they are familiar with/expect to see. The thing about aliens is they are alien, and so are their things.

They are looking to find something that fits their theories and so will never find the thing itself.

Agreed—nanotechnology on a massive scale could be indistinguishable from nature.

That is one of many reasons why SETI is a pathetic joke.

Ancient aliens? Maybe, more like humans who were helped by extraterrestrials in the distant past,

They would not need any ‘alien’ help, if their civilization had lasted tens of thousands of years, or if they had help from or built on a previous civilization. There are so many anomalous artifacts that are not natural which had to be made millions or even billions of years ago and are summarily dismissed as impossible or ignored, but never accounted for.

I think its the height of hubris to imagine that in 4.5 billion years, intelligent life only arose in the last 300,000 and did not become civilized until 10,000 years ago.

the CIA reading library -- Crustal displacement is a Charles Hapgood theory for which there is some evidence. No need to bother the CIA.

One can find his books in a library, bookstore or from Amazon.

Why can’t we Earthlings be the most advanced civilization in the cosmos??

Because of of a universe known to be at least 13 billion years old, because of 50 some trillion known galaxies each with hundreds of million of solar systems, etc.

Data retention is hard

There are at least several languages carved into stone that cannot be dated nor translated. Perhaps like the Great pyramid, data is not written, but incorporated into the structure itself.

The carved stone is just the easy stuff.

We claim to be an intelligent species but yet we have not translated any non-human language or even words, but several non human primates, canines, and felines have.
