A desperate mother has just abandoned her baby in a cardboard box in Alaska with a heartbreaking note from her saying she could not afford to feed the baby.
The baby was rescued around 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve after Alaska state troopers responded to a report of an abandoned baby found, officials confirmed in a statement.
Fairbanks resident Roxy Lane discovered the baby, who was swaddled in blankets and cooing softly and posted a video of the note and the baby on Facebook.
Sad, but at least she faced reality and didn’t “dispose” of the baby.
You never know. Maybe God was working in the heart of this mother. She chose NOT to abort. I pray that God glorifies himself through the life of this child.
The only reason in this country that she could not afford to feed the baby.
Is because she has a drug or alcohol addiction problem.
wth... is there NO welfare, no WICK???
You haven’t seen the “starving kids in amerkia” commercials the Germans are running these days, have you?
That may be but the baby is alive.
Yes, likely true
At least the baby wasn’t destroyed, was found, and appears to be healthy.
True. There is an enormous amount of aid available.
Many cities have a no questions asked emergency drop off facility for such dire circumstances. dk if Fairbanks does, if so she may not have known.
There are also plenty of people looking to adopt.
But adoption is basically a money laundering racket.
It is beyond ridiculous what is charged people looking to adopt.
From the note, “Please take me and find me a loving family”. People can judge all they want but this Mother has made the ultimate sacrifice for her child. Not only has she chosen to give birth but has realized that she cannot provide what a baby needs. Maybe she is very young. Maybe she comes from a situation where she fully understands that the child will have a life of “want”. Whatever the reasons, how many times have we read about some “so called Mom” that neglects, starves, abuses, beats, burns with cigarettes or allows the new boyfriend to rape or kill him or her? Plenty of times. My prayer is that this child finds what his birth Mom wants for him.. a loving family.
If she gives the baby up at a hospital, does she have to identify herself? I thought she could just “turn it in” and walk away.
Your understanding of “ultimate sacrifice” seems incomplete.
Alaska has a huge “street people” population, though “street” may not be the best descriptor for Alaska. Substance abuse problems and chronic unemployment are severe, especially in the tribal population. Its very sad and is perpetuated by public policy.
I can’t imagine sleeping outside in Alaska in January.
I think that they call it SNAP now.
I can’t imagine sleeping outside in June either. It’s light 23 hours/day.
so they don’t have that either???
