it’s easy to provide.
you simply invert this base human desire to dominate and attack (often in plentiful supply in the upper reaches of the beta groups) into “civic virtue” by othering and segregating out-groups.
you make it no only OK but actually laudable to engage in the nasty, brutal actions that would otherwise be taboo.
you do no need to run around conscripting assistance to totalitarians regimes. the mawkish middle will fall all over itself in its rush to sign up as long as they get to wear a hall monitor sash and push people around....

being of Native American stock, I dismiss the theory, the premise, the argument stated, and the conclusion of the author. (by the way, when you insert a collection of information at half the font size of the article, it becomes electronic toilet paper.)
The psychobabble of the author, in the defense of the psychological term, ‘tribalism’, is an insult to Native American citizens of this great land.

Well here in the US the Anglos invented a tribe called “Hispanic” around 1970, putting Euro-descended Argentines in the same category as Afro-Dominicans. I really cringe when I hear some mouth breather use the term “Hispanics or Caucasians” which is redundant. We should use European American rather than “Caucasian” which technically includes western and south Asians. BTW: if this country was a “melting pot” as the neocons used to say, there would be no black Americans as they would have “melted into the pot” a long time ago.
