I remember being told by preachers years ago about synagogues that would have the scriptures opened to a new chapter of Isaiah each week of the year.... but they never would allow that 53rd chapter to be opened and discussed.

I don't believe that chapter is skipped over by Jews. From what I have read, Jews today interpret the "suffering servant" chapter as being about Israel and not the Messiah.

Both are true.... generally they avoid it but if pushed on the question of what it means, yes.... they will interpret the chapter as being about Israel as opposed to being about the Messiah.

“I remember being told by preachers years ago about synagogues that would have the scriptures opened to a new chapter of Isaiah each week of the year.... but they never would allow that 53rd chapter to be opened and discussed.”

I believe that is a rather nasty half truth.

There is a a schedule of readings of the scriptures that is followed today. It was created approximately 2400 years ago, before even the Hanukah revolt against the Greeks and has not changed. In fact, it is the basis of the calendar used by liturgical Nazarene denominations like the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, and various Eastern Orthodox.

It does hit just the highlights of the Tanakh, as there are only so many days in the year.

But it predates the formation of your religion by several hundred years and has nothing to do with it.

As for “hiding” Chapter 53, this is just a lie.

All good synagogues have Tanakh study, generally on Sunday (if not several days a week), where you go through the books in detail and completion.

Heck, it’s such a well-known verse for Nazarenes seeking converts, it’s probably the most commonly studied chapter of Isaiah.

“but is no longer read aloud in the temple.”

No part of the Tanakh is read in the Temple.

The Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 9 Av 3830 (about 8 September 70 CE, I think).

The Romans eventually fell and the Moslems to built their mosque on the Temple Mount.

“I wish you would have posted the “forbidden” chapter.”

That would require admission that Chapter 53 of Isaiah is not remotely forbidden by Judaism; Chapter 53 is routinely studied; and this entire thread is based on a lie that is is somehow not discussed and (at least according the Jewish tradition) a poor understanding of Isaiah.

Here is is the “secret” chapter:

Thank you for your reply. My intention was, though I am not opposed to watching the video, is the “click bait” headline designed to make you curious about its contents instead of straightforwardly summarizing it. (Similar to “one weird way to lose weight while you sleep” , “One weird way to make your pee pee grow longer”., etc. . . . Honesty and a brief description shouldn’t be too much to ask is all I’m saying.

It isn’t forbidden and never has been. And the original Hebrew is different than the KJV.

Isaiah has a verse on basing children’s heads against rocks too... It’s oh so sweet until the last verse... them boom..

Can’t remember which chapter it is but here’s some from Isaiah Chapter 13:

11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
