After entertainer Bette Midler called West Virginians “poor, illiterate and strung out,” a coal miner from that state responded by saying West Virginians contribute far more to America than anything she does – and that many West Virginians would even be better at doing her job.
In an interview on Fox & Friends First on Wednesday, coal miner Bo Copley said that West Virginians aren’t losing any sleep over Midler’s insult, especially since her career has been at a standstill for a while now:
“I think my first reaction was, ‘Bette Who?’ I don’t really recall anything that she’s done too significant here in the last little bit.
“I don’t think a lot of West Virginians are losing sleep over it. The only thing to lose sleep over is getting up early and heading out and going to work.”
And, while the things Hollywood’s liberal elites say get a lot of attention, West Virginians know that they’re doing more to drive the nation forward than entertainers like Midler, Copley said:
“It does get tiresome. They have the platforms. They’re the people that can get their tweets read and for people react to. But, honestly, we know, deep in our hearts, the things that we do here in this state really drive this nation far more than someone like Bette Midler or Hollywood liberal elitists.”
What’s more, Copley said, there are plenty of people in West Virginia talented enough to do Midler’s job better than she does it:
“The way I look at it, I’m sure there are way more people in this state that could do her job than any of these jobs that she can possibly do.
“So, I would throw that gauntlet down and say, ‘You come to do what we do and see how well you do at it, or give us a chance to do what you do.’
“And, I promise you, we could do better at what she does.”
Midler slurred West Virginians Monday in a tweet calling them “poor, illiterate and strung out” – and said that Sen. Manchin (D-WV) wants to turn all Americans into the same type of poor, strung-out illiterates.
yup
Both blond female singers from the seventies.
Interchangeable.
BTW, California has a higher illiteracy rate than West Virginia.
"I think my first reaction was, ‘Bette Who?’ I don’t really recall anything that she’s done too significant here in the last little bit.
These people do not exist outside of their media bubble. The vast majority of Americans neither care about nor are aware of what they think. Their thoughts and vitriol are shared with us through the means of their other controlled arm of traditional media.
The way forward? Turn it all off. Make it so all of us can answer the same way when asked our opinion on the dink of the day's thoughts on life in REAL America..."Who? Never heard of 'em."
Meddler or Muddler
Wow ! How true that the coal miner is much more important that the midler. That comment had to cut to the quick. Ol Bette will need a sanitary napkin to cover that wound..
I thought that was the loathsome Streisand hag
as they age they just look like wrinkles and a nose, joy behar striesand and midler.
They weren’t much for looks when the were younger either
