One Minneapolis man has taken pains to record all reported carjackings since 2020 on an interactive map.
Resident Steve Taylor created the map on Maps.co. It gives users the coordinates where each carjacking occurred, dates and times when they occurred, and even the distance between the locations of the previous and next carjackings.
Red pins indicate carjackings in 2021, while yellow pins indicate carjackings in 2020.
As of earlier this month, Taylor found that 492 carjackings have taken place in the city of Minneapolis since the beginning of 2021. That’s up around 40% from last year at this time, according to the Star Tribune.

Time for victims to shoot back. Long overdue.
Relax. Carjackings are just part of the process.
Isn’t it racist for people to complain about being car-jacked? C’mon people, show some TOLERANCE here!
Time for victims to shoot back. Long overdue.

Not intent to be a negative nancy, but I see two problems with that right off the bat, one personal, and one social.
Personally, if you shoot a carjacker, you may well end up spending time in jail and money defending yourelf. Particularly if you have soarass sponsored prosecutor.
Socially, if there are a rash of car-jackers shot, they will possibly change their M.O. to just shooting their victims and taking their cars.
When and why did ‘Lake Calhoun’ get a name change?
Liberal mind says,
This is “Just”, because some people can’t afford uber...and only bigots are alarmed by it...
what’s the problem?
the criminals need the cars to haul away the loot they steal from the shopping mall
Uber’s and Lyfts are stolen daily in Minneapolis
Car ownership is a foundation of the patriarchal, racist White supremist capitalistic system.
If the person doing the shooting is a good shot, that particular carjacker will not change his M.O. Given the choice of shooting or allowing my car to be stolen, I will shoot and worry about the consequences later.
From an article about the name change:
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison also praised the court decision.
“In the 21st century, our values are different: Minnesotans no longer celebrate slavery and genocide,” said Ellison. “The people of Minneapolis and the DNR commissioner chose to remove Calhoun’s name from the lake to alleviate the pain of that history and celebrate instead the dignity of those who originally named the lake.”
Louisiana enacted the “shoot the carjacker” law in 1997. Believe it not, carjacking when way down.
Figures...
After all, Minneapolis is just another Mogadishu...
If I was retired, time to go hunting...
(hint, hint)
wi only 2 hits, is that Bryn Mawr area semi-gated?
All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
Action is risky. That’s why so many are afraid to do it.
Everybody gets carjacking at some point, and takes a beating
