My WIN 10 had a notice saying my computer is not compatible with 11.
I just have to say it - are you logged in?
:-)
Never had a lockup and had to reboot. I don’t believe that.
“I generally don’t update to a new operating system on old hardware.”
I’m a techie but don’t like to mess with the PC software/hardware jungle.
I’d buy a new machine with Windows pre-installed, perhaps wait for awhile as suggested by others before buying. Also I’d have them install a “clean” Windows version, meaning one without advertising pre-installed as some manufacturers used to do, maybe still do.
I don’t upgrade OSes. If your current OS is working keep it. If it isn’t upgrading on unstable ground usually doesn’t make things better. Also never adopt early. When I get a new machine whatever OS that’s at least 6 months old will go on it.
Nope not since 1981
Meant 1991 sorry.
Also I’d go to a place (I use Intrex around here) that builds the hardware to your specifications and does the software installations. I know are capable of supporting it.
Unless the installer shows an error message, leave the computer alone for up to 12 hours. Don’t expect the installation to complete in a reasonable time.
I’m enjoying windows 11. Especially since I have an ultrawide monitor. Having the start menu in the middle is a lot better and the way the app menu works is a huge improvement.
It takes a lot of disk space for the installation process. You may have to empty out some stuff.
Seriously, you fell for the “upgrade” propaganda? Was your Windows 10 broken?
Why are you asking us here? First thought would be why not ask the “experts” at MS?
Yep, cannot touch 10 either.
Or an Apple product for that matter. Not wired that way.
I installed it on a Dell E4310 that it said it couldn’t be installed but the are many workarounds , I used an old hard drive I had lying around
My mileage varies from yours, sir. My MBP 16 i9 has not failed once in over a year and a half of operation. I’m even running the Monterey beta and it’s smooth.
Sorry for your fortunes...
How much disk space do you have? Enough?
Yep. Stop.
Mint. This machine is Mint (with a dual boot XP for some older games).
My work machine is Linux Enterprise Edition.
