10-year-old Virginia girl dies of COVID after teacher made her ‘class nurse’

A Virginia family is reporting the death of their 10-year-old daughter. The latter died of coronavirus after she was potentially exposed to the virus while fulfilling her duties in school as a class nurse. The girl, Teresa Sperry, had been assigned by her teacher to be escorting her sick classmates to the school nurse at Hillpoint Elementary School.

Very sad, but I note from pictures elsewhere that the child was very obese. Like almost every other young victim I have looked up, she is as much a victim of the unhealthy quality of the standard American diet as of Covid.

why is it that I worked in food service for 30 years in state and federal prisons and never had an inmate complain of a food allergy.

My wife has a severe fish allergy. I she eats fish or other seafood her throat swells up and she had difficulty breathing. We have had a few close calls. But if you choose not to believe that kids sometimes drop over dead from food allergies that is your business,

Yes, we don’t know really if anyone else had COVID.

If she was violating policy, maybe OK.

AS far as adults, agreed….BUT as stated elsewhere, who has the manpower to be ready for that when it happens periodically?

Also, generally I don’t know why the kid can’t go himself. I always went myself. Besides phonies who might dawdle and hookie, I’d be going ASAP.

I ask because there seems to be strong anecdotal evidence that fat people are in much more danger than any other category. I’m biased but my MIL died of COVID and she was fat. No other word for it.

Galloping pneumonia? I’ve heard of walking pneumonia (dad had it a few times), but never any other gait.

Anyway, apparently, he did get bad pneumonia due to strep. He probably started with strep throat (sore throat) and never took care of it and got pneumonia. Seems he went a good 10 days before going to the hospital (or ANY medical attention).

Yeah, they all kill given enough time and inattention.
